Northernlion, when you get to a situation like 8:10, and the ladder inside the enclave is on the side you're entering, you don't need to use a bomb. You can push the block all the way until it's almost past the ladder (but not dropped) and then you can climb down the ladder, grab half the loot, climb up the ladder, push the block down and grab the rest. Also, for the sacrificing: each being you sacrifice gives you a certain number of points towards Kali. I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but I know that Monty gives you 8 points. At 8 points, you get an item. At 16 points, you get the Kapala. Every 8 points after getting the Kapala drops a TON of blood, enough for several extra hearts. So it doesn't matter what order you place the bodies in, all that matters is your point total.

The "hey you can't do that!" line triggers when something hurts the damsel in a kiss shop or the helper in a hired help shop. Also if a spitter snake hits a shopkeeper he wont take damage.

Northernlion, at 6:50 in this situation you can push the block to the edge of the wood where the ladder is with out it falling allowing you to get whatever would have previously been blocked off by the block, in this case Monty. It's a pro-MLG-Mountaindew-Doritos strat that every spelunky player should learn.

It makes it so that, for every floor after, all shopkeepers are immediately aggressive towards you and try to kill you on sight with their shotguns, which each deal 4 damage per bullet fired. It also makes it so that a shopkeeper is spawned at the exit to each level, guarding the exit. That said, it makes the Black Market, Worm, Mothership, and many other different level seeds extremely hard to escape from.

NL: The weird shop keeper anger you talk about in minute 3, I think I remember seeing a caveman in that shop in the episode. The caveman might have run into the damsel, and when you hit the damsel (like with the whip or anything), the shopkeeper will go: You can't do that! and then go crazy.

Don't be scared of the ghost. Just think of her as a power tool that you can use to your advantage, but just remember there come a new set dangers with every power tool. Just plot out where you need her to go in advance and always prepare ahead in Spelunky.

Alright NL so for the record Kali works on a point based favor system. She awards an item at 8 points and the Kapala at 16. A living sacrifice is worth more than a dead one. The damsel/hired help is worth 8 alive and presumably 4 when dead. The Black Knight is about the same as a damsel as well. Everything else is generally a portion or fractional in its value, so its gonna take quite a few of them. Also if you have all the items in Kali's "gift table" she will give you a jetpack.

I had the same problem with getting used to the vita's L and R controls, but the easy solution is to just remap your left trigger in the PC version to buy/go through door. That way the controls are consistent if you're playing a lot of both versions.

The freeze ray is actually pretty useful. If you freeze Anubis he shatters when he hits the ground. 1-shot kill. Also, you can freeze and shatter dead bodies for additional blood!

The shopkeeper thing you said was going on could've still been a cobra. He says that when the damsel is attacked, and cobras don't leave a carcass. Interestingly, in the classic PC version, he says "Hey, only I can do that!" instead (since it tends to happen when you whip the damsel :V)

The Udjat eye always pops out of the chest, it's just that you're almost always right on top of the chest, so you grab it immediately.

Ryan turns into a blubbering baby man when the ghost shows up. I'm not saying toying with the ghost constantly is a great idea. But I hate watching a level where he'd already set up a good rope infrastructure allowing easily kiting the ghost where he could have gotten a lot for relatively little danger. I know his skill level isn't high enough to suggest getting all the corpses but he could easily have sacrificed Monty and any number of items would have put him in a better spot.

Maybe he has a rigid backstory. His children and wife were killed, and after getting his revenge and going on a homicidal rampage, he needed a place to hide. The great cave was an obvious choice. But after a month or so of cowering in there, he realized he needed retribution. He couldn't come out, obviously, he was an international criminal. So intead he restarted his life with a quant little shop in his death hole of a sanctuary. I suppose the other shopkeeps are fellow criminals on the inside.

Northernlion, when you don't have paste or a weapon before entering the Temple, you should try and get a freeze gun from the Ice Caves' mammoths. It's a one-hit KO against flying enemies, including Anubis.

Killing him results in the other shopkeeps trying to kill for the rest of your game. He gets pissed at some other stupid things, too. Like a mine spawning next to his shop in the Ice Caves and an enemy walking over it, blowing his shop up and he always blames you.

NL, did you know the Eggplant, which was thought to be useless, will give you the power to kill Yama in one hit? Just throw the eggplant at the head while it flies and it turns into an eggplant with 1 hp!

Right, in that situation he could have gotten Monty; I should have used the example from 8:13 where he basically traded a bomb for no reason at all if he employed the aforementioned strategy.
