After listening to Alien on repeat for a week, I think I figured out why it’s called Alien - It’s a term for feeling disconnected and alone around everyone else, feeling like a stranger. Just like in this vid, the kid feels like a stranger to his parents and when he grows up the disconnection strengthens even further. Same with Talking Heads for example, in which the protagonist feels disconnected from his own mind due to the "talking heads". This basically occurs in every song, so it should be the overall theme for the album, which would be a really cool concept.

Scotty W is that the one with the car crash and such. I’m personally a fan of this more, but to each his own, and Whitechapel has upset me more or less the last 5 years. So ehh

I love how distinct the bass playing is from the guitars on this song. Usually the bass disappears in the mix.

This actually sounds like a song from the early 00s. Kind of like....Spineshank, Ultraspank, Filter, American Head Charge, Orgy or Celldweller.

@@andrewhare5482 The bassist/co-founder Chad Hanks passed away 2017. The singer Cameron Heacock was arrested last year for "a stolen van that housed 13 stolen guitars, nine of which were lifted from a nearby Guitar Center, according to officals. Investigators were led to a storage unit loaded with more allegedly stolen items." Pretty sad since he has an awesome voice and that kind of ruined their image.

The comparison is a compliment I reckon. Some of the good music from that era is all but forgotten. The legacy of MP3s I guess. People slowly stopped buying CDs. Music became disposable
