Honestly, I'm not a huge fan. I thought Alien was great but Northlane, to me, has always been about ethereal ambiance on top of metal. I don't fault them for trying new stuff but yeah, I was hoping this new album would be more like Mesmer (my favorite by them).

I love that while so many bands are trying to do the next "heaviest" thing in a song Northlanes just out making wonderful creative and stylish nu-metal / djent. The fact they didn't just "go hard" at the end when they could have is a testament to their creativity. They chose to let the song be what it was and not try to add a breakdown where it wasn't needed. Legends

I don't think northlane was ever about adding heaviness for the sake of being heavy. They used to be a band about taking beauty and contrasting it with that heavy and making something beautiful. Now they're just like repeat radio friendly chorus 5 times, add some weak chugs and call it a song
