NORTHSEAKAYAK - Typhoon PS440 Xtreme Drysuit

Let us introduce the brand-new TYPHOON PS 440 Xtreme drysuit to you! We were pleasantly surprised and exited when receiving the first prototype of this suit months ago. We were able to field test the suit during the previous period, rather extensively… We were able to give feed-back to the company and get proper response. TYPHOON really did a wonderful job! The new PS440 Xtreme is the flagship surface drysuit from TYPHOON with a lot of refinements and features. It is designed for the harshest conditions a kayaker or sailor can encounter during coastal and offshore trips or expeditions. It is super comfy, we love the storm collar and hood. The collar is soft and warm, and the hood is the best we have ever seen. Fits like a sou’wester and allows to look around and even behind you unrestricted. The collar and hood are easy to detach/attach, even when wearing the suit. The fabric is though and durable and kept us bone dry even after been in the water for an extended period. As you probably know, we spend a lot of time in our kayaks, and even more next to it in the water training on rescues, self-rescues and coaching others. I was a bit disappointed when I saw your Instagram photo about the brand new PS440 on the FB site of Typhoon, considering I just got my PS330 on Wednesday, but I am glad to see that there are no big differences between the 2 models. Going to paddle tomorrow the first time in my PS330, can't wait:)

Hi there, You will be pleased with your PS330, trust me. The new one has a few small upgrades, there's a neoprene insert at the buttocks to keep you warm while sitting on a cold surface, the zippers around the colar are positioned so that you can unzip and attach the colar youself. There's a bit of a change to the color and placing of the reflecting tape. Enjoy your suit!! Cheers, Dimitri

Thanks - very nice video. How to compare the different Typhoon suits. Maybe you guys could do comparison, e.g. table or even video... Anyway, I'm looking for a suit to kayak white-water, packrafting, and canoeing. Should be a good suit if it is cold, easy to put on by myself, well breathable, and not too heavy (have to carry it while packrafting). Would you rather recommend PS440 vs. Rapid vs. Multisport 4 or even Ezeedon 4?

Hi Rudolf! Thanks! This is a difficult one.... unless you are paddling in very cold and chilly conditions, I would reccommend a Multisport. The PS440 is for more colder conditions. Do you need a hood and collar? Most white water paddlers never use that, so same answer: Multisport. If you got the chance, het the different models in a store. You can never be to sure, and it is a investment for years to come. Happy paddling!😊👌

Oh, almost forget; we are currently field testing a new prototype from TYPHOON. Very basic, low budget and very light. Fabric is the same as all the other models. Stay tuned to find out more in the near future.

There are some minor changes, but suits are good, you cannot make a wrong choice should you buy one. The pocket on the front is gone on the new PS440. There is an extra see-through pocket on the leg. The best upgrade is the neoprene insert on the buttock. Keeps you warm, even when seated on a cold surface. Cheers!👌👍😊

Hi! No, you won't find it right now. It's a brand new update and it's going to be launched very soon. You will see it on the TYPHOON website. The PS440 is an update on the PS330 with some adjustments and improvements. You will be able to zip the colar on/off while wearing the suit and without help from others (placement of the zippers is different than on the PS330), there is a neoprene insert on the buttocks that will keep you warm when seated on cold surfaces,..... Just this minute off the phone to typhoon, the don’t have any pricing info at the moment, but it’s due to be released at the end of August 2019. Now, is it worth waiting for or is the ps330 on a par with the ps440

Hi Jimmy, I got the same question yesterday from somebody else so Sylvie tried it out with her Typhoon MS5 which has the same hinge zipper. You can make use of the hinge as a relief zipper but you have to loosen the internal braces as much as possible (or don't wear them when you close the suit at the beginning of a session). So it works, but not the ideal way. Sylvie mostly put of the top. I hope this helps? Cheers, Dimitri

Hi, I have a drop seat dry suit. I half regret getting it, as there are severe downsides to this. First of all, the additional zipper is prone to collecting sand and causing leakages. Second, the seat drops behind in a clumsy way. You have little idea whats coming next or how to balance. Meanwhile, I got a Pibella (I am not associated with the company plus this product is ridiculously cheap to try out). It may be some other FUD works better, but this thing is absolutely amazing. I still cannot believe how well it works. If you consider an FUD for your partner, make sure it is not soft. For kayaking it has to be hard. In which case - back to front relief! Woohoo!
