That was one of the best, well placed, uses of the word "Fuck" I have heard in a while. Nice chainsaw you packed in. Winter camping requires more gear no matter what. The rewards are worth it though. Great video.

haha thanks. Indeed. This is definitely the more glamping side of winter backpacking. Limits where you can go and the terrain you can go on but youre guaranteed warmth and dont have to huddle in a sleeping bag through the long hours of darkness. One thing is for sure, hauling the gear in is a hell of a workout. 100+lbs

If you really want a good all round hiking crampon that is comfortable on the level is the Hillsound trail crampon. They use real carbon steel so the teeth don't dull up. With the rubber and chain to hold the teeth they flex while you walk instead of a rigid frame on a traditional crampon. After several hundred miles of use and abuse mine will still slice you open. If you get a chain hung up on boot lug while installing use a stick to pry it past the lug. I've found out how sharp those teeth were trying to pull on the chain and slipped. Mine have been pounded on endless rock. Some teeth are getting bent. They will flash rust if put away wet. A quick wipe down and through some wd-40 on them lay them out overnight fixes that if it bothers you. They also come with a functional bag to store them in. If you walk a lot of miles in them like 12 miles I would recommend a 3/4 shank boot or a full shank boot, that much in tennis shoes your feet will be hating you. REI sales them.
