Norton Nemesis V8 rebuild - Episode 9

In this video I'm fitting the new alternator gear and assembling the lower and intermediate crankcases and checking the function of the oil pump
Note: All parts will be thoroughly cleaned before final assembly, so any debris , swarf dust of dirt seen under macro cinimatography in this video will be cleaned off later.
The Norton Nemeses is a pre production prototype that was made in the late 90's with claims of a 200+mph top speed from its 1500cc fuel injected V8 engine.
As far as I'm aware, this is the only bike that has survived but if any of you know of other bikes please leave a comment. This bike is owned by the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham UK has been on display as a non running exhibit for many years.
I have already worked on the bike last year getting the engine to run after a few rudimentary checks, new oil and batteries for series 12 of Henry Cole's "The Motorbike Show" where Henry rode it for a few miles up to around 50 mph, but it wasn't running very well and was leaking a lot of oil and coolant.

Over the coming months I will be stripping the bike to sort out a few issues with the V8 engine and hopefully make it run and ride how it was intended 25 years ago.

I’m a V8 car guy, haven’t ride a motorbike since I was 19,I’m 52 I love engineering and have some of these talents and skills I’ve learned over many years, but Allen channel is the only one I’ve watched everything, I really have. Allen’s skills are off the charts, he can rebuild /design a bespoke V8 as easy as I find replacing a spark plug. An irreplaceable man.

If it’s possible to be at bit creative with the internal cable routing in the alternator. Modifying the alternator cover allowing the wires to exit the alternator furthest away from the block. This would leave more distance between the alternator wires and the hot exhaust manifold.

I’ve never enjoyed a rebuild of a motorcycle engine so much, and this is no ordinary engine. As Alan has had to modify and re-machine so much of this engine makes you wonder what “clowns” built and assembled this bike in the first place. 😎💯 I'm looking forward to the next episode. I believe you've now made it clear you're going to make a new exhaust manifold shaping it away from the alternator. You may possibly even be considering fabrication of a heat shield of some type. I was not able to tell from the video, of course, the "exact" dimensions of the alternator's bolt-hole centerlines compared to the alternator's shaft centerline nor the potential interference that could happen because of the alternator's aluminum housing shape. However, my question is whether the alternator could be rotated and offered up again in order to reposition the electrical cable exit even further away from the exhaust manifold you are planning to fabricate?

The quality of this bike varies so much- the clutch looks well engineered, the welds on the sump are barely acceptable and that exhaust manifold would look out of place on a fifty year old lawnmower.
