We put shredded brown cheese on Lutefisk, combined with mashed peas, bacon and potatoes and mustard. It sounds weird, but it's insanely good

As a Norwegian, I really like brunost myself and I'm glad you do as well! I also reccommend trying to eat it with strawberry jam on a piece of bread too

in dråmmen we like to eat brunøst on toast with whipped butter and wild strawberry jam (jordbær syltetøy) you can buy it in local breakfast shops as well; i would recommend trying it (or if you live close to dråmmen you could drive there and get the authentic stuff if you can) its delicious and i love brunøst!

Personally I like brunost on warm toast with some jam. Usually strawberry or raspberry. Another very traditional way to eat brunost is on waffles with sour cream and jam.

Brown chese is often eaten alone on bread or with jam. In meat dishes, we use it for game casseroles.

Great video. glad you liked the brunost! You should try get your hands on one that is made with 100% goats milk from a small ysteri (cheese maker) in Norway. It's quite a different flavor. Richer, stronger and more intense. I love it, especially on Norwegian waffles :)

I'm so glad you tried this after the comment on your last video. My partner introduced me to the gjetost goat variety and now I can't get enough of it! Have you tried Cotswold? Delicious and herby!

No, I have never tried it. Where do you usually get it?

@@CheeseMunch My local grocery store here in the US carries Somerdale brand, but it looks like that might be for export only. I think it's the same as any double Gloucester with chives and onion maybe?
@CheeseMunch3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Alan! I will try to get my hands on one. I have to admit that I have never tried Double Gloucester either. Even the plain one. Thank you again for the suggestion :)

You should try "brunost" brown cheese on waffles (butter first on the waffles for an even better taste. Some like to put jam on top of the brown cheese also)

Norway is my favourite country to visit.As a swedish speaking finn I can speak to them.swedish and norweigan is like 90-95% the same.That cheese is probably not healthy but man o man is it good.It's like candy to me.And yes I always overdose on it when I go there.They also have fishcakes that I have never eaten anywhere else and I like them.quite strong in taste but I fish alot so I'm used to the fishy taste and smell.So no big secret that I love all things Norweigan.No vacation this summer but next summer it's Norge time again as always.Ha de.
