Norwegian Prime Minister: 'Safeguarding infrastructure is also a NATO issue' | DW News

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has said NATO allies need to work together to defend energy infrastructure. Speaking to DW about potential threats to the 9000 kilometres of pipelines in Norwegian territory, he said: "This issue about safeguarding infrastructure is also a NATO issue. So we will propose to our NATO allies that this is something we should look into to coordinate our efforts because critical infrastructure is key to security." He also commented on criticisms that Norway has profited from high energy prices as a result of the war.
Støre has been attending the Berlin Security Conference and meeting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Nobody wants to talk about who attacked those pipelines, not the reporters, not the politicians. It almost feels like these pipelines were destroyed in a natural disaster. Yet everyone say they are serious about the security of their critical infrastructures.

What is there to talk about? Russia probably did it. Russia denies any involvement. We will probably never know 100% what happened. All we can do now is make sure the rest of the pipelines are properly protected from any sabotage.

My grandfather was on the Polish destroyer ORP Grom that was sunk in the Rombaken fjord in the battle of Narvik during WWII. In his name I am glad to see the responsible stand Norway has taken in the face of this horrendous war. Norway is 5th in total support by GDP for Ukraine, so the position is supported by concrete action. Thank you!

being a NATO member , there is no guarantee that bombs will not hit the infrastructure of a country. The air security provided by NATO is only marginal and may not be useful at all. This is evident from the recent S-300 missile attack by Ukraine in Poland

The prime minister's party just had it lowest poll in a 100 years or so, largely due to high energy costs, which were felt hard by the Norwegian population as they require a lot of energy for heating. So idk

Especially when you consider that the main benefactor is the Conservative Party Høyre which has the same energy policies as Labour Ap, plus they want more restrictive social benefits for people.
