Branding is all about perception. It is about creating, managing and building a desirable perception within the marketplace. The more people who perceive you or your company in a particular way, the more powerful and valuable your brand. Coca-Cola is a prime example. Say the name and virtually anyone in the world will respond with the same adjectives, the same emotions. The Beatles (as a band and as individuals), Heinz Ketchup, Apple, Bob Dylan, Paris...regardless of whether people 'buy in' to any of these, their perceptions of each will likely be similar. And this is crucial to fundamental brand realization.

That's right, you have thought hard about branding. Consumer brand knowledge is the sum of the awareness and associations that a consumer holds for a brand; this brand knowledge is what distinguishes one product from another.

oh my goodness. Now I have a better understanding of "branding". I jumped into this online selling starting my own store and really didn't know what I was doing, nor what I'm going to do. I heard of niche, branding, dropshipping and all those words I just learned since July 2020 and I'm 57 yrs old. I'm blown away on, even though a voice was not sound, or a word spoken, I understand now more about that word then I did since I started my business. Wow!!! This was an eyo-opener and a blessing to me. You are awesome the way you put that together. Thank you

Branding is not about sharing your ads on media and internet. Branding is about making place in Customer's Heart. Its a process of Market Research, Data Gathering, Data Analytics, Target Behaviour and Audience Engagement. We have solid foundation in this. I would say brand is not ONLY advertising and marketing communication, but it is the whole set of character, integrity, perceived value, corporate values that are continously being delivered through realistic products and services AND consistently communicated through advertising, social media, and other marketing communication media in today's modern world.

Branding is crucial as it’s the first step in setting up a business. It is where you have to take time to brainstorm new ways to get recognized and it’s certainly goes beyond a catchy name, logo, or a tagline.

Aaron Harburg Ah yes, a background piano beat. I forgot coldplay had copyrighted that along with everything else they've ever used in their music. Obviously coldplay derived their work from pure revelation and originality and most certainly did not rip off those who had followed before them and everyone else who who uses music similar to theirs in an attempt to develop art is just ripping them off.

This one time I taught a piano student to play Clocks. Next lesson, her mother angrily told me her daughter had been doing nothing but practicing that main riff over and over for a week. I'm kinda beginning to feel her pain.

It's not simply that it's the same rhythmic descending arpeggio. It's also that it is the SAME instrumentation layering. Piano with heavy reverb with subtle pad, building with strings, rock kick set, and baseline. It's basically the song minus the vocals. I don't think Coldplay is all that original, I'm just saying, this is almost identical.

The material in this video shows me in few words a little more regarding the concept of personal brand. As we know, one of the points of personal brand is the perception of others about you. It could be the perception of people in your social ,personal life or at your work place. For that reason, personal brand should be a very important subject for everybody. Also, in the video I can see that brand was mainly for marketing, but now a days "we" can create brand "we" are brand, our actions will create brand around the world. The inspiration that this video brings me, is the fact that I can bring at work not only my discipline and hard work, but I can also bring the funny and caring way that I'm with others, which I usually show only at home. Thank you for the video.

Hi Toni. We appreciate your point of view, thanks for sharing! It seems that not everyone gets brainwashed as you think when they are exposed to branding! Indeed, you yourself don't fall into line with the attitudes that the branders would like you to have when regarding their products. Perhaps people have choice when it comes to branding, and they can accept a product or not. We're not trying to be sinister and brain wash in this video, merely trying to demonstrate our uni course :)

So basically the concept of branding, originally meaning stamping livestock with proprietorship, now means that people display the same characteristics as cattle each time they lean on a corporation for a sense of identity or utility. So long as the image of a corporation can supply people with an entitlement to it as a reference it's success is implicit, regardless of the fact that other commercial options are available, or if the product itself is unnecessary.

The phrasing 'each day' is used in the video because there are 1.6 billion or now in 2013 1.7 billion cokes sold EACH DAY. Therefore if there are about 8 million people in London that would make about 206 cokes for each Londoner each day. The real question is why is Coca-cola so good at managing its business when others are not. Long live success!

As an extra credit for their group project, students will be asked to make a short branding video for their group. All groups are working on the same assignment with the same scenario and same role. This video asks them to both consider the uniqueness of their individual group but also the marketing purpose of the role they are playing in the scenario. I wonder if you also talk about personal branding in this course.

The problem is nowadays companies use things like old styled branding on printed paper labels on medium quality products. But do we people still produce high quality products? Even if something is expensive it's usually just a little more durable because most buyers would handle the product with care "I paid so much for this Louis Vouton bag!". But mind of regular human is still in "medieval"- we believe that good catchphrase and clean clothes on clerk are equal to real care and quality.

Hi Patricio. The purpose of the video is more a commentary on how brands become so huge rather than a celebration of this. In a nutshell, the Brand Leadership course is designed for people trying to learn about how to create successful brands (successful in terms of business), which is why we give the "successful" examples in our video. The more politically minded you are, the more you'll challenge the idea of a brand, I guess. Brands are what you make of them after all, love them or hate them :)
