Still having issues getting your throws nose down on the backhand side? This is a simple way to find out what nose down will both look and feel like at your release point.
If you're struggling with this issue I would recommend spending some time working through this and consider adding it to your pre shot routine for a while.
Be sure to check out our patreon for one on one coaching at / overthrowdiscgolf
If this video was particularly helpful would you consider sharing it with another disc golfer that struggles with nose up issues?
Y'all are the bee's knees. Thanks for watching!

This video literally is a game changer for me. After a practice session yesterday and then another one this morning using my new grip (ended up being a 3 finger modified power grip, halfway between a power grip and fan grip) I went and played a round this evening and had 4 drives in a row in the 320-340 range. Previously my all time farthest throw was 325 with a strong tail wind and todays throws were all into a 15mph headwind. I obviously need a lot more practice but that kind of distance with any kind of consistency has always alluded me. My average full power throw has been 260-280 for the past 5/6 months. Needless to say, I’m STOKED.

The part about gripping different for different types of rim resonates with me. In another video, you talk about grip in terms of pinch point/pivot. Have you considered what to do with tall fingers to maintain a pivot? It would seem harder to find a point between finger and thumb close to shallower rims, if all fingers (and also the thumb) are taller. I would almost have to fold a fan grip to the center to achieve this for a low profile narrow rim. Is this perhaps a topic worth exploring, by inviting different hand shapes to your channel?

I've noticed several pros when photographed at full reach have the wrist heavily pronated. The disc is still in plane with the forearm but it looks to be "drooping" below the intended hyzer angle (viewed from behind). In trying to copy this I've discovered that different angles of pronation at reach give different nose angles at release. You said supination in this video which correctly states the action of going between a "droopy" reach and a correct release angle. For me, pronating to near vertical at reach is a downhill, squirrel hunter or early skip. 45 degrees is a tunnel shot and staying in plane with the forearm works for more elevation. Has this been discussed anywhere or am I just fooling myself?
@themusketeer9458

Can someone please talk about wriet angles rotated to the right or left? I keep pouring the cofee amd trying all sorts of different angles either rotating the wrist a bit more to the right when opening up or to the left. If i rotate my wrist back and to the left i get nmreally nose up, however the opposite is not creating nose down.. i get almost flat at best, but never truly nose down where i cant see the stamp. Just angling the wrist forward do not work, there has to be some rotation either to the left or right also no? Or maybe my swing is creating nose up some other way.. buy i have watched every nose angle video on youtube at this point and every single video they mention wrist forward and back, but i dont understand how not a single person is mentioning if you should rotate the wrist a bit to the left or right (by this i mean left =palm a bit more up to the sky, and right = down towards the ground).

For some reason when I go out to do field work nose angle is never an issue when throwing in a calm or head wind, but throwing with a tailwind I can't get the nose down to save my life. I swear with a tail wind I'm watching the stamp spin through the whole flight and it's very frustrating. I'm going to give this a shot but any other advice anyone has would be fantastic.

I've had a really hard time for years mastering nose angle on drives using a standard power grip. One day I tried moving my pointer finger on top of the disc, so the disc is between my pointer and middle finger with two fingers under the disc. I immediately started to hit my line and nose angle more consistently and am throwing further than ever before( finally at 64!) Do you think it makes sense for a weekend player like me to perfect this grip or keep working on a more traditional power grip? Am I giving up distance in the long run with this grip?

If we look at the Feldberg video on grip, he specifically states that the pinky is the controller of nose angle. And I put some thought into this and was like ... Yeah. Ended up being that if I wanna really crush nose down for sure, I gotta put my pinky up on the rim to make sure I force down the nose. Which is annoying, cause everything else I throw with a power fan. This is a pretty neat idea though.

@@OverthrowDiscGolf It's like one of the weirdest things how grip is. But the key to disc golf in general is nose control. And some people are just super lucky and have natural nose down throws! and they can go fly a kite or something. hahaha There are lots of bad ways to throw that work, but a clean nose down throw will keep you on the course longer and with less injuries. The air bounce guys are so fun to play with. Full power every time. yeah, you go 400-450, and I'm throwing 350-400, but I'm throwing with 0 effort the whole round. @@OverthrowDiscGolf Each player has a different method of course. I wonder what would happen if you went to a field yourself and slid your thumb back towards the middle of the platter and tried to throw. Likely you would have nose up issues. Once your thumb is slid forward, you can fine-tune where it should be from the edge of the platter. It’s a player relative not objective tip. However, I tend to see immediate improvement when I take a newbie out for a round with me.
@OverthrowDiscGolf
@OverthrowDiscGolf 2 жыл бұрын
@@madmikey1980 it might help generally but sliding 1/2” from edge isn’t a cure all like the original (pre-edited) comment suggested. For example when I slide my finger to 1/2” from edge with a backloaded grip it will still be nose up. I’ve spent lots of time experimenting on the field including with my thumb in the middle of the flight plate like Eagle’s. Thumb placement is not the easy fix. I only took issue with your original comment because it read like “this video is unnecessary. All you need to do is slide the thumb 1/2” from the edge of the disc” when we have evidence to the contrary.
