This is a bit of a tangent latenightgaming but I feel like a good squad system would be like one in the (old) battlefront games where you could order the NPCs with simple commands to follow and hold positions. Wouldn’t be anything too intense and would really just be used for marine allies.

I always liked the atmosphere of each map especially in halo 3. On Sandtrap I would fill the main room with tech and recovered weaponry and pretend I was the last person there, holding out for as long as I can until I can find a way out. I also did the same on forge world but as a stranded elite who made a camp in the cave that connected blood gultch with the tunnel island. I never had xbox gold at that time because I was young with a concerned mother so this sort of roleplay happened a lot but it was still fun anyways. But the atmosphere made it all work and enhanced the overall expeieriance and I appreciated all the small details as you have. I would sometimes just listen to the calming wind on all the maps as to just enjoy the calmness in the middle of the war that surrounds me.

I have countless memories playing Halo Custom Edition during my childhood, it had so many awesome maps made by the creative community. I'll never forget the first map I've downloaded, able to drive the Wraith of Halo 1 for the first time across Blood Gulch :D Almost each map had a unique environment, theme, art style, music, weapons, vehicles, easter eggs etc. Those maps included pretty much everything from the entire Halo universe and lore, but there were also maps based around completely different worlds. For example, a map based on star wars with x-wing and lightsabers, a map based on the legend of zelda with horses and bows, minecraft, cod, mortal kombat etc, not to mention other countless custom multiplayer and single player maps made by the most creative members of the halo community. I spent so many hours exploring and experiencing those incredible worlds, alone, and with friends.

Just if classic halos btb had spint it could been more awesome... Arena played pefectly without sprint,but btb in classic halos in matchmaking sucked just gonna say.......you respawn traveled 5 minutes from point a to b to kill someone, then a dude kill you in 1 sec ,yes,then you respawn and gotta walk for 5 minutes again.
@TheCommaA5 жыл бұрын
@random halo player That's interesting because I absolutely cannot stand sprint in new halo games. Not enough time to think or plan, just run and shoot. I like'd being able to approach gameplay like a puzzle to be solved. Plus I miss feeling like an unstoppable tank, not a speedy ninja. Not saying you're wrong for liking sprint. I can see why it is enjoyed by others. It's just interesting how people's perspectives could be so different. Its kinda cool actually... and I was a fan of exploring Sandtrap as well! (Edit) Though, the map, Guardian, did have a unique mystery feel about it!
@randomhaloplayer9185 жыл бұрын
@@TheCommaA sprint could work on btb perfectly ,arena was perfect without it I sY on btb sprint could work because it has big maps and on classic halos like 2 and 3 if a dude had a sniper rifle and was camping ....for example valhala on the blue base he could kill everyone he wanted near the plain area in just 1 sec,and then you gotta walk for 7 minutes just to get killed again by the same dude that just got a killing frenzy because no one could get him with their AR or H3 br. Sprint could have fixed that ,but arena was good as it was actually I think that competitively halo 2 was the best,but if you just ganna play without risking your rank halo 4 was the best actually I thought halo 4 dominion was cool also extraction and flood were cool ideas,but some maps lacked creativity(except dlc maps that were easly the best dlc maps after halo reach ones,so bad they rarely were played on matchmaking),while classic halos didnt lack that much of creativity,they just need halo 2 A grafics to be perfect.

I remember playing exploring the map "Guardian" from Halo 3 for the first time (which was on the MCC and not on an original copy of the game tragically lol). When I took my first step into it, I was just so blown away from everything around me: the trees, the atmosphere, and most importantly the Forerunner architecture. And for a while I just looked everywhere on the map and had the extreme desire to just explore everything, and the more I found, the more I began to have these burning questions: What was the purpose of this place? What happened to the Forerunners that were here? And many more. I just love how the maps across all the games really tell little stories of their own, and how they truly are some of the best the industry has to offer. And they really get you wondering what things took place in them! :)

Seeing the environment and skyboxes of the maps on the Ark, Halo, and even in Africa was fascinating because I love the outdoors and back then, in middle school, I did a lot of camping and backpacking with my family and with boy scouts. It added a whole new level of mystery and curiousity. I would sit by myself at empty beaches, along lakes in Maine, on cool nights when the moon was out, and I could just imagine being on a Halo ring or on the Ark just being amazed at its beauty and mystified by the ancient yet futuristic structures that stood there.

I had never played CE until I was in 6th grade, as I never had any Xbox of my own, and all the LAN parties I went to were hosted on 360s. With the MCC not being out either, the only way I could’ve played it was on an OG Xbox, which none of my friends had. I had played all the other games, and finished every campaign whenever I could find an empty room where no one was screaming about dying in multiplayer, and I could pop in the disc and play. But I never really explored the multiplayer maps, as I played that with tons of other people. When I finally played CE at my friends house on his Xbox One, about a month or two after MCCs release, I immediately started exploring chill out. I recognized the map layout, sure, but the atmosphere was completely different. I found myself looking for some hidden secrets, figuring out where the portals went again, seeing what was different from Cold Storage from Halo 3. But I couldn’t find anything conclusive. Only wonder what it’s purpose was, wonder why it was so empty. If it was so cold, did they use it to contain the flood? In Halo 3 they did that, so they must’ve. But there was nothing. And I loved it. The way they used atmosphere made it so that CE even with it’s dated graphics still immerses you in the worlds you play in, makes you want to know more.

Every time on halo 3, me and a few friends would sometimes act like left behind soldiers. And then we'd have about 2 or 3 people as elites, and even it out with the spartans. I always thought of the pitt as the spartan training ground. Sandtrap as players getting stuck in something, and because of how valuable spartans are. The ship waits there, the only thing left is the UNSC or covenant. Which I always wished would be added to forge. Placing soldiers in spots and positions that would make it feel realistic, and fun. I can't even choose a map to be my favorite. All of them are so well done and planned out in their own way.

I still remember when I first started using Forge World, I was blown away by how many different options there were to work with. I decided on making an Invasion map since that was my favorite gamemode. The idea was that the UNSC would be attacking a Covenant camp. The UNSC would start at the far side of the island and work their way to the Covenant defenses on the beach towards the Gultch. After taking down the Covie base there (including Shades), they can cross a bridge against the covies defending the hole that leads to Blood Gultch. Since the UNSC had taken down the shade turrets on the beach, a ship would appear overheard where the UNSC forces could spawn and then drop in ODST droppods. The UNSC had to both take a lowground position at the mouth, and a highground one one the ridges uptop. Finally, they'd push into the valley. There, the Covenant would deploy armour while the UNSC could now use airsupport. I got about 3/4 done with the map before I lost it due to my XBox account being high-jacked and suspended.

For me, my best memories was exploring boardwalk on Halo:Reach. It was one of the first maps I've ever played on the first map that I ever memorized and one of the first ever maps in general on any Halo game that closely remembered. I had the best infection games on that map, played with some of the best people, and overall gave me a good halo feeling. Halo:Reach was my very first f.p.s. game, wishing that I was old enough to comprehend any of the original three games but I'll tell you this if it weren't for that game including that map I don't think I would have been a big fan of Halo that I am today. I mean there in a few maps here and there that were special to me but boardwalk to this day is still one of my favorite all-time Halo maps. In conclusion, at least I enjoyed Bungie's last-ditch effort for Halo.

The hologram on Epitaph seems to be "The Guardian" as mentioned by halo 3's art book. It is inspired by the "compiler" enemies from Marathon.

Honestly I wasn't expecting much from this video, but holy shit this was great. Brought back a lot of good memories of trying to piece together how the maps fit into the game and all the quirks of them. Good shit duder.

My friend and I used to play Halo 3 local multiplayer because I also didn't have Xbox Live as a kid. We'd mess around on Forge, throwing explosives everywhere. I don't think we ever built anything big on Halo 3 Forge? We just used the tools we got to wreck havoc and mess around and explode stuff. I don't think I played Reach Forge with my friend that often, that was more of something I'd dabble with on my own. Though I do remember one time in particular we were flinging ourselves across the map with explosives on Forge World and sometimes I'd go flying so far I'd reach the landmasses across the ocean, or fly so high the terrain would look like those satellite maps of Earth. It was really cool. Kinda miss it, honestly.

When I was a kid exploring the Halo 3 maps it was eerie as shit. The ambiance of Guardian, or Sandbox was so intriguing but so creepy

My memories of multiplayer maps are with Halo 2. Mostly with the maps Lockout and Headlong. They always were pretty damn mysterious to me, as to why it was the way it was, what happened in those areas and so on. I did that because I didn't have Xbox live, and internet wasn't as big as it is nowadays, so it's all I had lol

As for the question about Squad Halo at the end, I believe Reach pulled it off possibly the best way the series could do. Multiple missions were with multiple or just 1 AI companion, while the rest you could lone wolf. t'was good.

I completely agree with you on all your points halo's maps always gave me this sense of mystery and wonder the forerunner maps emphasized this the most,and as a kid when I used to play halo reach a lot,it would give me a wonderous vibe around like something might happen if I waited enough or did something specific

One of my favorites was Cold Storage, where every bend of it tells you the story of a dilapidated Forerunner security system slipping, and just starting to let the Flood out of its cell. The AI even still functions, watching the hapless warriors battling for supremacy, but unable to communicate or warn them about the literally growing threat they would see if they would just look.

Playing split screen with my friends on Halo 2 Headlong! looking for the golden warthog! Some of my favorite memories were just exploring the maps and looking for glitches. Before I had Xbox live I would just mess around in Multiplayer by myself exploring and doing glitches with my friends Doing the rocket banshee flip and or custom spawned a wraith to boost with against a wall with overshields get outside the map! Stairway to heaven on Burial Mounds super bouncing on Lockout Glitching outside of Ivory Tower Messing with the train on Terminal and getting above the map - (sometimes you would hear kid’s screams when it passed through the map. That always scared me.) So many memories. It’s almost hard to talk about because It was a special moment in time with that game with friends cause I moved a year later and wasn’t able to get xbox live for long time cause there was not internet where we were. And then I started playing other games like call of duty and gears of war and but I always and still have a special place for Halo 2 That was my childhood! I even had a copy of the game before I had an Xbox. I had the books and magazines etc anything and everything was Halo when I was 14

Me and my brothers always thought that if you could get into one of the eyes of the skull mountain in forge world there would be a skull you can pick up, like in the halo 3 multiplayer maps

I remember in halo 3 there is a map called guardian. I hate that map, it was so boring to explore as a kid. However, I went to that map a number of times by myself because in the distance there were these birds you could shoot and they would explode into blood and fall. I wasn’t really allowed to play multiplayer when halo 3 was out so I explored those maps a lot and found creative things like that to do. I loved sandtrap the most because it was so big and had so much to explore, and my favorite part, you could put run the map guardians. I still remember coming home from school after having a bad day and just driving around out of bounds avoiding the mines.

Halo 4's Erosion always seemed interesting to me, and the cave was very pretty. I also really enjoyed Halo 3's Longshore and that Invasion map from Reach I can't remember, the one in the Beta with the UNSC shipyard.
