I hear you beginning to tell your story and I close my eyes, listening intently but also pulling back the curtain of my own long neglected memories from years ago, brushing off the dust and cobwebs as I do so I think back to the first time I played Halo with my step father, a slayer match on Halo 2 that had me jump straight into the campaign once they had gone to bed (I wasn't allowed to play the campaign because it was deemed to violent by my mother) and hearing your description and the Halo 3 music play in the background made the hairs in the back of my neck stand up, thank you Late night for these videos, this has served to scratch a deep ceded itch I never even knew I really had

QnA: When playing the original trilogy of halo games I have always found Halo 3 to play somewhat slow. I am not sure why the game feels slow compared to the other 2 games in the trilogy since the mechanics of ce 2 and 3 seem very similar. Why does halo 3 feel so slow
@Phantom_Aspekt
@Phantom_Aspekt 5 жыл бұрын
@@YAL-np5zz I'd say it's the scale, Halo 2 always played faster just because of how corridor like and claustrophobic the maps were. Halo 3 brought the pacing back inline with Halo CE and of course with the huge maps dominating the lineup it seems much slower than Halo 2. In my opinion Halo 2 is the worst in the trilogy gameplay wise based on the CQC nature of the game, Halo should have big maps with vehicles in my opinion and there was only a handful of those maps in Halo 2 that were playable considering the BR bullets would dissapear at what seemed like 100m therefore solidifying the CQC nature of Halo 2 😂

In 2005 i played Halo CE for the first time. I remember the second mission “Halo” vividly. When you emerge from that cave underground in that warthog the music starts playing and you are welcomed by the beautiful view of the halo ring in the distance. The music, the green environment all combined together was the first time anything had really blown my mind. I played it on split screen with my little brother and the first time we emerged from the cave we both said “wow” at the same time.

The scene that hooked me on halo was the level "Halo" on CE. walking out of the pod to see the shape of the ring going up and around me was mesmerizing, probably the first game that made me feel like I was a part of the game, and not a player following a story. My second favorite scene was ODSTs general atmosphere; despair and silence filled the city and it really made you feel alone. my third favorite scene has to be in reach on LoneWolf; your story of amazing feats and the feeling of being unstoppable brought to a crushing end when you realize that *you are doomed, you wont win* , that brought back the sense of mortality to these characters. Halo has had so many great scenes, I hope they can continue to make more.

Couldn't agree more. Reach was my first game though. And I think it's story is the best, due to the reality of many more covenant victories instead of you destroying them easily (overall during the war, trilogy has you kick alien @$$ at the last year or so) It does what you said it does, it stomps on what your used to(winning) and gives you a sobering tone (like H3 but without satisfaction of victory until the eulogy)

I feel like if Halo was on PC, it would split the community maybe not a lot, but a little. Especially since there is a good amount of people who prefer PC over console. But come on, any sensible person would know a mouse and keyboard board is miles better than a controller, so cross play wouldn't turn out great. So it'd either be a split community or crossplay that'd be heavily in PC favor and impossible for competitive.

Since i got my first xbox only last cristmas, and had only played halo 4 on friend's xbox... and only local multiplayer, ascension stood out the most... but few years later he had a few lan-party events, we played halo: online... and i thought: maybie other halo games are on pc too... it was acually hard to find, since even in a wealthy family i got to use pc for the first time in 6'th grade, it was an unfammiliar thing to me and my friend got me SPV3 and halo 2... so far, mission HALO, silent cartographer, 2 betrayals and SPV3 version of the library are the best. And the great journey from halo 2A.

I was born in 2007, which kind of upsets me, as I wasn’t able to experience halo the way older people have gotten to. Lots of adults and youtubers are always talking about how they loved to get home after high school and hop onto halo 3 and play splitscreen with their friends etc. But I would never get to experience that. When I was about 8, my dad got me an Xbox. Not an Xbox 360, an original Xbox. It had heaps of classics loaded onto it, including the demo for halo: combat evolved. My dad tried to get me to play it but I wasn’t very interested at the time. He then told me how when he was young, he was diagnosed with cancer, and had to go through Kemotherapy. As he grew up on a farm, he was used to riding motorbikes and cutting down trees building fences and sheds doing hard work every day, but now he was weak. He had nothing to do. My mum, (at the time my mum and dad had been dating for about a year) bought my dad an Xbox. Not just any xbox, but the green limited edition halo combat evolved Xbox, which also came with halo Ce of course. My dad played it all day, he loved it, and made many fond memories playing it. But after he had finished Kemotherapy, and was no longer diagnosed with cancer, he stopped playing halo. He sold his limited edition Xbox. Now I understood why my dad wanted me to play halo, to experience the same memories as he did, but since it was only a demo of the game I still wasn’t that interested. When I was about 9 or 10, my dad got me an Xbox 360. I marvelled at it’s sleek and impressive looking design. Surely, it was outdated by many years now, but I was still impressed by it. We went to EB games, (basically Australia’s version of GameStop,) and looked for some games to get. As I looked at the piles of cases on the shelves and saw amazing box art I picked out a few games that looked amazing, but I soon realised they were for the Xbox 1, not the 360. We asked a guy working there if they had any Xbox 360 games to which he showed us a massive box filled to the brim with the outdated games. Before I started shuffling through them to see which one seemed the best, one cover art caught my eye. HALO:Reach was written in big text on the front cover. There was a stunning setting of five beefy looking soldiers on a hill of some sort. I picked up the majestic game and took it to the cashier to purchase. The cashier offered me some call of duty games to buy, but I wasn’t interested in them. I was interested in the charm of Halo. I got home and put the disc into my Xbox straight away, and was astounded by the menu screen. The music sent shivers down my spine and the barren landscape of Reach looked breathtakingly beautiful. I started playing the campaign, I probably took a good twenty minutes wondering if I should play it on easy or normal, but I decided to man up and play it on what seemed to be the standard difficulty. The first cutscene blew me away, seeing the majestic planet in all of its beauty. But, me being young, I didn’t really care about the story, and just wanted to shoot aliens. So I skipped the cutscene. As I was dropped out of a falcon into the field the first thing that caught my attention was the sky. The beautifully crafted sky, I stared at it on awe for ages before progressing through the mission. It was almost as if it was something made from future technology. I quickly found myself deep in combat, fighting jackals, skirmishers, and the weak but annoying grunts. I loved the gunplay, and quickly found myself making use of grenades and melees to take my enemy’s out efficiently. I was proud of myself for learning the combat loop so quickly, but then there was an imposing force that stopped me in my tracks. The elites emerged from behind hay bales in front of me, their plasma rifles tearing my shields and health. I didn’t know what to do, it seemed like any damage I did to them was negated within 5 seconds of inflicting it. I tried to make a great dash past them using my sprint ability to get to the car I could see past the hay bales. I made it. But I was quickly killed by the elites as I didn’t know how to drive. I attempted it a second time, but failed. But on my third time, I succeeded, and flew away in the cool looking car, astonished by everything flying past me as I drove across the beautiful landscape. The driving felt so smooth and responsive, better than any racing game I had played at my friends house. I proceeded to finish the mission, but then I had to go to bed. I was busy the next day, so I wouldn’t be able to play it until late afternoon. So I waited eagerly all day to start up my console and hear that spine chilling music of the main menu once again. But this time, my dad decided to join in. He plugged in a second controller, and we started playing the campaign splitscreen. I couldn’t believe my eyes, two screens in one? It seemed alien to me, but I loved it. We played all night even after mum went to sleep, and continued to do so the next day, and the next, and the next. We were having the time of our lives each night, immersed in the world of halo, a world so beautifully crafted and pieced together. As time went on, we finished the campaign, and started testing our skills against eachother. I would get frustrated as my dad would always beat me, but as I played more and more I learned the games mechanics better and eventually triumphed against him. I felt like I was the best halo reach player in the world, and I wanted to verse more people, so I navigated to “multiplayer” in the menu, but it wouldn’t let me play. It said I needed an Xbox live subscription to play. I felt so defeated. What was there left to do? I had completed the campaign (my dad and I had even completed it on legendary), I had played the firefight mode to death, I couldn’t understand how forge worked back then, I was stopped in place. So I thought the best thing to do was to buy more halo. I went back to the shop and asked for all the halos they had for the Xbox 360. I ended up getting halo 3, halo 4, halo 3:ODST, and Halo: combat evolved anniversary. But my dad was no longer interested in playing halo with me, he had other things to do like working on the house. I played through all of the games I had gotten, but was upset I couldn’t experience it with the man that introduced me to it all. As time passed on and I grew a bit older, I stopped playing games on my Xbox 360. When I was 12, I started to see things about a new halo, called Halo: infinite. Silly me thought it was already released, but I soon found out it had only been announced. All of a sudden I felt that feeling come back to me, that spine chilling music of the main menus was playing in the back of my head, I had to experience Halo again. I booted up my old Xbox 360, and played through the halos, but it wasn’t the same. I wished I could play multiplayer, but I soon realised that even if I could there wasn’t much playerbase left. I wanted to play games with my friends who all had Xbox ones, so my parents got me and Xbox 1S. I quickly found out about Game pass, which supposedly had all of the halos according to what one of my friends said. I got gamepass and Xbox live, and downloaded the master chief collection. Finally I could play halo multiplayer! But it was different. It didn’t feel halo. No one spoke, no one even used the text chat, I felt like I was playing against robots. This is why I wished I was born sooner, so I could experience halo in its glory days, when the community was booming in discussions and population. But for now, we can only hope that halo returns to what it once was. The game that sent shivers down your spine in the menu. The game that had you staring at a skybox for half an hour just because it looked so beautiful, the game that had the biggest fan base ever. But I am grateful that I experienced great memories, especially playing halo reach late at night with my dad. I still use the same Xbox account I had on my Xbox 360 to this day, with all of my old achievements. My gamertag is “ultimate pigmen” thank you for still contributing to the halo community LNG, without people like you I don’t think there would be much community left at all.

I remember playing Halo 3: ODST. I was so excited. I got in trouble for peaking into the paper wrap before Christmas. I had to wait till Christmas and they gave it to me. I was still so excited even more after seeing it. I immediately went upstairs and putting it in. The most memorable moment for all Halo games for me...maybe even gaming in general is the fear of looking around New Mombasa and being frozen. Seeing that I had no shield really settled in for me since Halo 3 was the first halo game for me. The same feeling I got playing dropping into New Mombasa was the same I got playing Tairo Station in Halo 3 when you had to fight the brutes alone. The difference this time is I didn't have a shotgun or shields. I had to think quickly since there was a patrol coming towards me and all I could think to do was...hide. I pause the game for a moment went down to eat breakfast and once I went back up I finally jumped out of cover and began fighting. I didn't stop till I beat Halo 3: ODST. It was the awe or the spectacle of games that stick with me. It's the fear that action games and the like create that stays with me. That's why ODST is my favorite because to this day I still have a slight fear of that first drop into New Mombasa.

Halo 3 has only a resolution of 1024x600 on the OG 360 BUT the engine actually rendered every frame twice in order to implement technically correct HDR lighting. The massive resolution boost on the XBX with this truly unique HDR implementation gives Halo 3s lighting a truly sublime look which beats even some modern games.

I'm pretty sure that Reach was my first full experience with Halo (which isn't very common) but I still loved the Campaign lone wolf was fantastic as it gives you a sense of doom but also hope as you try to take down as much of the Covenant with you as you possibly can. It was definitely one of the most immersive video game experiences that I have ever had. Other great levels that come to mind are Halo and of course the extremely eerie 343 Guilty Spark as well as lots more.

Q&A Hello LNG! There's something in Halo on which I can't have a fixed opinion. You see, I played Halo since H3 and I then played all over the series and the way the story was told just made me shiver as the epicness was blowing in front of me in every corner, especially with Reach, where you see the fallen of the planet and the spartans that know that they won't escape this war alive. But then, H4 came out with a totally new way of telling and so, totally new feelings to make me feel. The Rampancy of Cartana, Chief's inside conflict as the story progress and the way we imagined how the death of Cortana would impact him. It was not perfect but I really liked the H4 campaign, it was new and fresh, and it was decent for me. But now, with H5, I don't really know what would be better for Halo Infinite. So this my question. What do YOU think that would be better? Plot driven (Bungie's style) or more Character driven like H4? But one thing's sure, the finale has to blow everything up! Anyway, I hope I made this understadable and peaceful thoughts from France! ;D

Man Taras I had sooo much grand memories with halo but I'll tell you the night that I got halo 3 back in 2007.. It was my birthday day, my dad got home from work my mom welcomed him in with a cup of coffee and my dad, since it was my birthday that day, told me I got a few presents for you son! It's in my laptop bag, I was soo excited! I opened my gifts one being an Xbox 360 limited edition console, the other gifts being two extra controllers and the last... Being Halo 3 , I was jumping up and down with excitement at this moment my brother too, for we played a bit of it at a gamestore, and to have it here with us was magical... WE rushed into our bedroom opening with anticipation and joy, my dad was opening it with us, for he wanted to see how it played, we hooked it up and saw the iconic HALO 3 logo.. My heart was beating in a super fast rate. With the green halo 3 controller in hand...my brother and I started to play campaign , we were all blown away by this game, the story the world the level design... It was just... Absolutely mind blowing! And after having hours of fun we reached the last level... HALO I looked at my brother, and he glanced back and I told him "WE CAN FINISH THIS BRO!!!" and we laughed and picked up all we needed from the pelican and headed off through the caves, my brother found door when exploring where we found a fimilar room from combat evolved, and the terminal at the end of the corridor, we had fun reading it making stories and having fun as we went further into the level until our boi johnson... Died we were shocked.. And carried out his legacy pretending that Johnson was our guardian angel above.. We reached the Hog our hearts pounding to the sound of the warthog run theme, we were shouting at the top of our lungs saying "DRIVEEEE FASTER!!!! " or "SHOOOT THOSE rooty Guys and metal bugs!! " (refering to the flood and sentinals) we where all but having a blast and then... We did it.. We reached the end, We completed Halo 3 myself and my brother Jumped up and down hugging each other saying we finished it! It Was a memory I could never forget!! :,,)) 😭😭😭😭

I remember thinking the day before that scene, "This game is somewhat kid friendly" Then that nightmare showed it's self. Its voice, its teeth, and Its appearance scared me. I remember watching my dad play this game (around 2004 when he got it for the PC), originally watching him play it in just utter awe. At the time, I’d seen no other game (wasn’t exposed to H2 yet) that looked as good, and me and my little brothers would stay up late with him, even after my mom called us down to go to bed, we’d still be watching him play from the top of the steps to my dad’s little upstairs game room. Man, haven’t thought about that in such a long time, makes me remember why I love Halo. Even if there’s debate on what the direction of Halo should or shouldn’t be, I love that we have a community that cares so much, unlike a lot of the modern Star Wars community, among others, that are so toxic.

One of my favorite Halo levels is Mombasa streets from ODST. Since ODST (for some reason) is my first Halo game, it had a huge impact on me when i was just a kid. The art-style, the dark and moody atmosphere and the music, the music! In my opinion ODSTs soundtrack is maybe the best one in the series, at least for me. The way that this soundtrack impacted me emotionally... I can't really remember any game that would have such a cool ost. The melancholic feeling and a sense of mystery in a dark jazzy atmosphere of this futuristic city is just simply amazing

I wish I had Halo memories. All my friends had the games and they constantly talked about Halo 3 and Reach while I only had a PS3, and it wasn't until 2020 when I got my own Xbox One S that I was finally able to play The Master Chief Collection. Part of me feels like I missed out on a lot of that stuff, I obviously grew up around it through word of mouth and KZbin videos but it really wasn't the same as playing and experiencing the game itself. Playing it for the first time in 2020, while the whole world got turned upside down, I was finally able to experience this amazing series....maybe if I played it at a younger age I would have adored it like everyone else. I love it don't get me wrong but I don't feel like it's quite clicking just yet, guess I need to play it a few more times.

Halo reach was the first time I got my hands on a halo game, and I played it ALOT, mainly because at the time it was the newer halo game, so it had the most active community. At the time I had no current gen consul, all I had was a ps2 and n64, and I never got an xbox 360 until it was near the end of its life span. So I would always go to my buddies place who had one, and we played the ever lasting hell out of Halo Reach, my favorite memories was we would make our own spartans and everything, and then pretend, or role play, that we where those spartans, and we would give them names that we would call each other. Reach is a lot of peoples least favorite in the franchise, but its one of my most favorite, and its mostly a bias given that it was the one that introduced me to the franchise, but I can not deny how nostalgic and grateful I am for that game. I have always loved creation in games, be it character or levels or whatever, and halo reach was the best halo game for that. Though it has its flaws, and everyone seems to have much founder memories with the other halo games, halo reach will always be special to me.

Halo 4 was my first Halo game. Requiem is my favorite for not only making me believe the relationship between Chief and Cortana through the voice acting and small character movements in cutscenes, but the way Requiem is revealed as I exited through the cave as the music swells up. It's that sense of awe that I'm sure people had with Halo: CE's reveal of the Halo Ring.

I got goosebumps watching this video. I go back and replay levels all the time just to relive those epic moments, and to relisten to that epic soundtrack. There are two fond memories I have of halo 3's campaign. The first one is when the game first came out I didn't have an xbox and we went to my friends house to play the game. Me and 5 buddies took turns playing as Chief and the Arbiter while beating the entire campaign. That's when I was hooked with Halo. My second instance was getting the legendary Skulls to unlock Recon armor. I think I played that last level a hundred times trying to get people through. It was always a blast seeing how hard we would fail in the beginning, and slowly getting better as the level went on.

This rejuvenated my youth from all the fun memories. So many things me, my siblings, and my friends would always hop onto to maps and just imagine the most bizarre scenarios, or just see who was better at fighting. All because of the surroundings of the maps which gave it a unique feel which no other games series or genre has been able to recreate that feeling of being able to use your imagination. I would like to thank you for this Taras as this brought back so much nostalgia which I wish I can recreate as I believe right now gamers are going through a "Era of Nostalgia".

I stumbled across this channel and decided to watch this playlist of videos, unaware that they were uploaded this year. I, as someone who fixed his xbox’s disc tray and ordered halo 3 to complete my collection from wars-4, I have my fair share of similar memories to share. In the spring of 2008, an 8-year-old me had received a bunch of games from my father for my xbox 360. Although most of them were unplayable og xbox games, I was fortunate enough to find 2 games- halo: ce and halo 2 (which came in a collectors case, although dented). I probably won’t be able to share all my memories, but one that really stuck to me was when I first played the level “343 guilty spark,” although it wasn’t a very fond one. When I came to the room where you find out about the flood, I accidentally skipped the pvt. Jenkins helmet cutscene. My young mind “flooded” with fear; creepy sounds, an “unknown” enemy, isolation, a dark-ish environment, and that god damn squeaky noises in the music all culminated to freak me out. I ended up not finishing the level for at least a week and covered my head with my pillows or blankets because I was so scared. On the bright side, I ended up seeing the game to the end, and it became the first game that I completed w/o giving up or losing interest.

I think genuinely it's classic experiences and memories that make the Halo franchise as successful as it is. Giving players the opportunity to have those memories and experience set pieces is what helped it stand above the rest. I remember going to my friends every other weekend, and we would try to stay up all night playing Halo. Or late night multiplayer in Reach going for those challenges every day. Halo has always setup memories like this, whether it was a goal or not

I didn't discover Halo until late adulthood actually. I had stopped playing video games because I knew I was the kind of person who would be up all night, etc. Then, thanks to the Big Bang Theory, my wife insisted on getting an Xbox and Halo. On the show, Wednesday nights were Halo night. We got Halo 3, even though Reach was the newest release. The result? She didn't care for it. I was enjoying it, but in level Cortana, I finally bust through the Flood, find Cortana and the screen went dark..."You found me." With its immediate piano key follow up, this moment made me realize the cinematic level video games had become and I also realized that I cared for the characters, deeply. For me, Halo (all of it) means something and I can't put my finger on it, but it all started at that moment when the screen went dark.

I've been a huge fan of halo ever since I was a kid as well. My dad was the one who bought the game and I remember begging to play with him through the campaign since I had googled that you do that. My parents were sure if a 4-5 year old kid should be playing such a violent video game. My dad stood up for me though saying, "he knows its just a game." I remember looking up at mom and nodded excitedly and then I finally got a controller in my hand. Ever since my dad and I have been massive fans of the Halo franchise. Not to mention my brothers who tagged along shortly after I was granted permission to play. Even to this day me and the "boys" get together to play the original Bungie saga. Halo has always been my #1 favorite game of all time. And it always will be. Hopefully, Halo Infinite will bring back the glamor the original games did. Take us home 343

It wasn't until very late in my life when I got Halo 2 and played it myself, I loved the level Delta Halo, the cutscene didn't have as big of an impact as I didn't play CE, but the orbital drop was awesome. Halo reach for me is always a classic, I started playing bits at my neighbors house but one day finally got it for myself. The weeks following that were probably some of the best times in my life. I remember trekking for what seemed like miles to the snowed out golf course with my neighbor to sled ride. And then coming home to hot cocoa, a warm fire, and halo reach. On my first play through I was astonished by the scenery, only to be hit with a hard reality of your whole team dying (well not really) in the end. Me and him would grind on campaign every day to get that EVA helmet we both desperately wanted. Those were the best times.

The door opening scene on the first level with the flood is one of my many favorites. When I played it for the very first time it really scared me, and every time after then, I still feel a bit of fear when I watch it. The rest of the cutscene is also fantastic because it gives us a small, rare glimpse into the life of a marine, and the marines are one of my favorite aspects of the Halo series. Also, I enjoyed Halo 4 at launch, it was different, but I'm fine with different, seems like quite a lot of people have changed their mind about it over the years.

I remember the first time playing Halo CE at a friends house, he didn't have a second controller so he gave a flight simuluator stick and it worked for some reason. I somehow managed to play halo with that stick. I remember it being a real pain to use but I managed to play the game anyway. I think the first level I ever played was AotCR and I absolutely loved the snowy environments. Even today it's still my favourite level beacause of the large open environments and snowy landscapes. I also remember being stuck on the level "Halo" from CE because we sucked too much to play on normal. Besides all that, there's so much more I remember from playing Halo. Like when I beat Halo 3 and was disappointed that it was so short, so I kept replaying it over and over again to discover all it had to offer. I remember replaying the first half of the CE campaign because I was too scared of the flood. I remember loving the dark city of new mombasa and finding all the clues and audio files. I also remember playing a shit ton of BTB in Reach with an 8 player squad. And that's just a fraction of it all.

For me my favorite level/memory of halo has to the be the Covenant from Halo 3. I remember having halo 3 for at least a year maybe two before I would eventually get Xbox live and be able to experience the multiplayer/coop so as a kid I would just replay the campaign levels primarily the covenant. I think as a kid I would replay it for three main reason, those being that the level gave you a spartan laser, (my favorite weapon at the time) it let you drive nearly every vehicle in the sandbox and the fact that there were TWO SCARABS. I must have replayed that level a million times as a child and to this day I still get goosebumps when I here the marine yelling "I COUNT SCARABS! REPEAT TWO SCARABS" I remember it being such a special thing to play that fight, and it only got better once I got Xbox live. Upon meeting the people who would later become my current best friends I knew that I needed to experience that level with them as a team and once we started getting creative with the level I loved it even more. I remember one time when one of my friends showed me the anti air wraith glitch which absolutely blew my mind and another time where we all took the same hornet with one person on the top, ( as far as we would could at least lmao ) but the grand moment was always the different ways we would take out the scarab. I think my favorite way we ever did it was taking the hornets with two people on each one and have the hornets both drop off there passengers to destroy the scarabs. A solid plan on paper but our young mind tended to mess things up one way or another. I remember situations happening where we would lose a hornet and be forced to pick up the other two guys but the absolute best moment happened when we lost both of the hornets and thought that we would have to shoot the scarab legs with our guns (forgetting about the other vehicles given to us) to beat the level when a single marine drove up in the Gauss warthog and we had to maneuver around the scarabs taking pieces out of each legs, unfortunately there was only 3 seats so we had to leave one our friends behind but to our surprise he has walked back and got in the tank from earlier that we had all forgotten about. I don't think I'll ever forget the joy I had when we finally beat the scarabs like that it was so amazing.
