Going to be a great journal, remembering difficult times. Have you by any chance seen Goodnight Mr Tom? Brilliant film with John Thaw, lives in the country, is sent a child from a city to look after, well worth a watch, Maybe a tissue required 💕

I don't care if you do get distracted I really love going through the books with you. This is such an amazing topic. But you will have to do what is comfortable for you. Hi there Carol! I love these kinds of projects. My mom's friend started a group where they repurpose old books that haven't been used or read in years. They add textures with a mixture of crafting and sewing and the new piece is so memorable to me. I love your journal and I think it's great that you're giving new life to old books that haven't been touched in years. Much love from Pennsylvania!

Carol, these are great! As always, I like to watch your thought processes, and this helps me to better see into the way you set up and begin a themed journal. The “Make Do and Mend” has been on my mind since you first showed us this. Could you make a page element that is a bit of fabric with a patch you’ve sewn on? How about an image of the women sewing, and a little fabric “Sally’s Dress” that is recrafted from some vintage-looking linen or other material? I’m sure many people used scraps or cut down an adult garment to create clothing for little ones… and a wee cloth dolly for Christmas, too, if they had the wherewithal to do so. A page showing the children with their wartime improvised toys, could have a Sally doll in a pocket. Like when you created Candy. Just a thought. Keep on crafting, Carol! Hi Lynn I think you should have a go at a journal it would be so awesome with all your ideas 🩷I will be including fabric and love your idea of the make do toys, I may just have to write about it in the journal, yes they did a lot of repurposing fabrics so thank you for helping me stay on track with the theme, it’s lovely when you comment as I always know there will be some gems for me to include.

Regarding your comment and concerns about using these old books for your junk journal, when I use old linens, dollies, and such, I tell myself, they have lived one 'old' life and now I am using them in a new life. Someday, someone else may find my slow stitching and stuff, and give them some new life I haven't even imagined. Best to you always. 💖💖😍

As I was watching...I was thinking to myself...."oh I would have to do this on my own" just because of the importance of the subject. Then you said that is probably what you would do! I was also thinking ...since you have SOOO many images to work with you could make 3 or so journals...one about the children and a few about the woman. I don't know...maybe that complicates it. Either way, I always enjoy spending time here!!!

Carol: this journal project seems to be a big one and most interesting. I also think this will be an emotional one too. No one wins at war. When I think of the history of it, it is very sad. However, I think this will be an intriguing series you are involved in now. Carol from California

Hi Carol yes I think that’s why I’ve been putting it off, so many ways we can go, I won’t be focusing on the fighting that’s too awful, Im going to take care to get the right balance but looking forward to the challenge. Thanks for watching 😊
