@@--mand0r-- bingo. She made something else because she knew it would be worse if she didn't. I was in a marriage like that, it was AWFUL. I did everything and everything I did was wrong in some way. Nothing was ever enough. Worked full time and did LITERALLY everything around the house, still constant verbal abuse. His abuse was more extreme than this, but of course the fact that he does this on camera makes me believe he's worse behind closed doors. It was so hard to get out, I left 10 or more times but finally left for the last time in March.

Taking care of your kids and paying attention to them is not just playing with them. edit: I just watched the rest of the video, who tf throws a clearly hard ball at your small child's head while they are turned around and are unable to move and avoid it. fwiw women/girls are often taught to laugh when they're uncomfortable because actually standing up for oneself or saying you're uncomfortable is often received quite negatively or is even potentially dangerous in ways it often isn't for men/boys. The "boys will be boys" responses to misogyny from fellow women also help enable and normalize their behavior a lot which means being passive and laughing instead of voicing your real thoughts becomes the only real option even if you're just around women.

I assumed she was a stay at home mother, but when he mentioned she was a nurse I just stopped because that makes the whole thing _so much worse._ Being a nurse is not easy. Almost every adult in my family works in the medical field, including my parents, both my grandfathers, all six of my maternal aunts + uncles, etc. so I've grown up hearing tons of stories of what it's like, as well as seeing first hand the long hours my parents both worked when I was young. My mother had problems juggling her career and a kid sometimes, such as being late to pick me up (on rare occasions), or being too tired to play with me because of how hard the job alone was. I can't imagine doing that with _three_ kids.

Also the second he´s of from work shouldn´t the stay at home mom be also. Seems like alot of stay at home moms are working 24/7, still taking care of everything even when the dad is home from work. It is like a trap for women to be put in this role they are expected to do all the work 24/7, also if they don´t work they don´t have any finances in case of emergency or taking a semester from that role.

If my S/O made something I didn't like or couldn't physically eat due to said issues, I'd thank them still, before making myself something I can actually stomach. They took time out of their day to make me something, and even if I couldn't eat it, I'd try and thank them another way. Every time he mentions the husband's age, he increases it by a decade, which is such a stealthy way of insulting someone and I love it. By the way, this woman blaming her mother-in-law for how he eats is probably her way of venting about her toxic mother-in-law because a toxic husband and a toxic mother-in-law usually go hand-in-hand.

Yup, can attest to this. Not because I have a toxic husband or a toxic mother in law. I actually loved my mother in law like my own mom before she passed. My little brother though.... is a fucking man child. The HORROR stories my sister in law has from his misadventures in "taking care of himself" are hilarious. He is the way he is though... because of my mom. Who I am fully aware is a "toxic mother in law". She just is. I love my mom to death but she is 1000% that mother in law that treats her son like a little prince. To this day she will try to say she doesn't to me and my sisters and we all give her a raised brow at the very least when she does. My brother has NO idea how to take care of himself and it's because my mom was the kind of mom that when he was a grown ass man he still went to her house every night for dinner and brought his dirty laundry to her house every week FOR HER TO DO till he met my sister in law. My mom would go to his apartment and clean it for him! The hilarious thing though is that HE has started trying to distance himself from her. Not because of how she treats my sister in law, or because he realized that he's a man child because of her. It's because her being intrusive as fuck has started to seep into his life in a negative way, in the fact that she constantly calls him during the day when he's sleeping. She's also not just toxic to my sister in law. She's thrown some toxicity my husbands way in the past, but I shut that down FAST. My little sister? She gets HYPER involved in her love life and gets close enough to some of her boyfriends to start calling them her new sons. Creeps EVERYONE out.

Pro tip for emerging adults: whatever you went through as a child, may not have been your fault, in fact, it mostly wasn't.... But when we become an adult, we assume the responsibility to fix the things we carried from childhood. THIS! Childhood trauma and toxic behaviors are difficult to surpass, but it is still your responsibility as an adult to become a better person and stop those behaviors. Get a psychiatrist and a therapist if you can, talk to close friends about those behaviors if you can. If not, just try your best with what you have available. The first step is always recognizing you are wrong and trying to change. The problem with people like this man is they don't see their behaviors as wrong or toxic, so they never change. I understand she is trying to cope by taking the blame off of him, but I hope she finds it in herself to stand up for herself.

absolutely. one of the things i always do when i'm around people a lot is try to be understanding of their situation and don't make things worse. do they snap at you? they're probably just tired. skipped in line? it's ok, just tell them they were wrong. most times they didn't know you were a part of the line and apologize. are they tapping their foot in an annoying way? they're probably just stressed. if you sit down and think about it, not everyone is out to get you. they're all just like you, tired and hungry and irritated. they're all trying to get through the traffic or airplane ride or shopping line or even just the day. that of course doesn't mean i excuse some of their more rude behaviors, but it does mean i am more lenient with their situation. the point is, for emerging adults, don't think that everyone's out to get you. there's a sense of responsibility of being nice and understanding to others when you're an adult. if you're nice to them, they'll appreciate it and be nice back. i understand the world is horrible and so are people, but that doesn't mean that you have to be one of the people that make it horrible. edit: and yes, there is a point where your childhood trauma can't save you. there comes a point where you need to sit down and work through it or simply just don't tolerate someone who refuses to fix themself.

As someone who is autistic and has sensory issues, it is kind of appalling to see someone act this way towards a loved one who is doing something nice, she went out of her way to make something for him after he wouldn’t eat the original meal. My parents usually make me try new food, which I’m not good at, and specific textures, smells and tastes tend to stop me from eating certain things. But even when I don’t eat what they make, they expect me to make something myself, and sometimes they make something else for me, and when they do I don’t act hateful like he did. I’m getting a bit ranty but it’s just difficult for me to see someone being so hateful towards his wife when she goes out of her way to do these things for him

Like even if you don't do the dishes immediately after eating (let's be honest who actually does that) you can at least stack them and put them to the side to make it less messy. Put the dishwasher-safe stuff into the dishwasher. Throw away left-overs. DONT JUST THROW YOUR DISHES ONTO THE COUNTERTOP WTF

My ex husband did that. They don't clean anything intentionally. Of course it's not difficult to at least try to make it clean, but they don't. They want you to do it all, and they get angry if you don't. My ex would leave dishes, old food, garbage, dirty clothes, everything all over the place. He literally did nothing. Just drop everything and leave it. I have videos of times when I would go on "strike" and refuse to clean up after him and our house would begin to look like a hoarder house until I eventually gave up and stayed up all night cleaning it all. Then he would turn around and scream at me for being lazy and gross. It was so miserable and I'm so glad to be out of there.

I'm autistic, I have an ED where I literally won't eat even if I like the food if it's not something tolerable or something I crave in the moment. I can't imagine just not even bothering to at least try to eat the food your wife made for you. Even if I couldn't eat even an ounce of it, I would apologize to her and thank her profusely for what she did and do my best so she knows she's appreciated. Cause regardless of my disabilities, I wanna make it clear how much I appreciate the effort even if I wasn't able to enjoy the food. I just cannot fathom someone being so demanding and uncaring and forcing her to do that with 0 appreciation. I feel bad for this woman. No marriage should be like that. She deserves the world and does so much. Edit: I'm incredibly disabled. Chronic pain and fatigue and illness, personality disorders, autism and adhd, semiverbal, and I struggle to do a lot of stuff on my own and need a lot of comfort as well. This man is pathetic. Cause even with being disabled and needing so much help, I still put in so much effort for my loved ones and be sure to show so much damn appreciation. Nothing is a fucking excuse for disrespecting people and treating them like garbage. Awful. Absolutely awful. I hate this man. Edit 2: I jokingly make fun of my friends and stuff. But immediately after saying it, I go "no but this is great, I love it" so they know I am only joking. I also make fun of myself in the same way and if I cross a line, I make sure to apologize and say that I won't do it again. Cause when you jokingly make fun of someone, not everyone enjoys it and sometimes it goes too far. My friends have gone too far with me as well, it happens. But he literally is just making fun of her to make fun of her. I hate it so much.

@@EliasKayama245 Yep! I was diagnosed with the Hypermobile subtype of EDS, my biggest issue is my knees clicking out of place all the time. I have a friend who wears special rings that keep their finger knuckles from popping out, too. There are multiple different genetic disorders with that as a symptom, though-- H:EDS is actually the only one that DOESN'T show up on a genetic panel, annoyingly.

@woomybeeb is it painful? I heard it was. I don't have any genetic disorder like that, but I do have two mental disabilities and I'm curious about how other types of disabilities work.

So, one time I thought I could just make Indian food from scratch with no Indian mixed seasons, and I really got excited with the cloves. My poor husband (just bf at the time) ate so much of it without saying anything before I finally was like "you don't have to eat this, it is so bad" and he was sooooooooooooooo sweet about it, apologizing and saying sorry to ME like I didn't try to feed him a disgusting bouquet lol. That is one of the things that let me know he actually loves me. Yall get you a dude that supports you and is nice when you mess a meal up lol

YESS! I'm currently unmedicated for my ADHD and have overcooked soo much food lately. My husband COMPLIMENTS the bacon I charcoaled and ate all of the overcooked dry chicken I made. My 3yo on the other hand asked why it didn't taste good😆

This actually makes me feel so much better. I’ve always had problems with food (because of mental illness related stuff), and for a heart-stopping moment I went ‘oh no, is this my future?’ But then I realised no lol. I can use and oven and willing cook myself food when I’m hungry. If my mum or dad makes something I don’t like (which isn’t uncommon because they like roast dinners and I hate them), I’m perfectly capable of making myself food. Wow, watching this just cured a lifetime’s worth of guilt I’ve held around my strange eating habits.

being responsible about your food sensitivity, physical or mental, and having a partner who understands and recognises that issue is MUCH better than what Brianna's beau has going on. That being said, I totally get being scared that you're the bad guy because the difference between your struggle and a selfish person's tantrum isn't always obvious. I used to have meltdowns because no one ever believed me when I said some stimuli were painful, and until a couple years back I thought that made me just like every other physically abusive partner or family member, even though I never hurt anyone during a meltdown and was mortified at the thought of it. Then, I found out abusive people don't hate that they're acting that way, they _want_ to act that way, it's a _goal_ for them to hurt others like that. The way my therapist explained it, "If you care so much about other people that you're scared of putting them through that, you're not evil, you're just ill and dealing with it the best you can." Glad to know I'm not the only one who learned that being sick isn't the same as being abusive, the relief when you realize you really aren't trying to ruin everyone's day is pretty awesome. :)

Honestly, same. I have problems with certain sensory input that includes a fair amount of smells/textures/flavor combinations, and _every damn time_ I'm visiting family or at some kind of function I end up getting the least offensive (by my standards) thing I can find or make my own thing when offered something I can't deal with, and I STILL feel like utter shit for not just choking down what I was given because whomever put forth the effort to make something for me. I can't FATHOM treating someone I loved (or anyone for that matter) like this. Mind, if/when I move in with and/or marry someone, you bet your silly ass I'll take over the cooking-it's something I enjoy-so I guess that's a non-issue in my case lol.
