Usually I don’t like that kind of remarks of policing what poor people do to their money especially if they use it for distractions, for the simple reason that when your life is bad, distractions and pleasure is even more important to keep a good mental state. Especially for children. But of course it should come after the basic necessities, aka being fed, being clothed, being cared for and secure, getting a decent enough place to live… it’s true in that case it seems to push the limits. Still, those arguments are often used to guilt poor people as if with better choices their lives would be radically different when most of the time it could not be further from the truth and comes from a place of privilege or the idea that merit work and patience is always rewarded by money or a good life (while it’s denying the complexity of why people are poor in the first place and how hard it is to get out of poverty no matter the work)

I hate that so many people think gentle parenting is permissive parenting. My sister in law posts on FB all the time talking about “Gentle parenting is for gentle kids.” Maybe, just maybe, your child is being a child and needs to be explained what they’re doing wrong and put in time out, not whooping their ass and teaching them doing something wrong equals corporal punishment. Then they run around when their kids get older and say “I don’t see why my kids act this way.” Probably because you couldn’t communicate with them and so they never learned to communicate. “I’m mad at something you did so I’m going to hit you.” And then wonder why at 13 they have anger issues.

Like hitting a kid and then hitting them for hitting another kid, right? You can gentle parent and be firm. You can still give them time out and boundaries without belting them or belittling them and screaming at them
@GMR.242 ай бұрын
You are spot on!! I think the issue is that people use "gentle parenting" to describe two very different types of parenting. There is what gentle parenting was supposed to be- which is talking and explaining things to your children, not yelling at them all the time, no hitting or spanking- but while still teaching them boundaries, saying no, changing your tone when you're being firm (especially with toddlers so they understand), etc etc. And then there's gentle parenting where parents are basically letting their children do whatever they want and get away with whatever they want. These are two very different types of parenting- that are both described with the same label of "gentle parenting". And that causes a lot of frustration and confusion.
@phantomhourglass139 күн бұрын

note: the amount the Court is allowed to garnish from a person's wages depends on the state, but it generally can't be over 50% of disposable earnings for child support, and in a situation like this where he has other dependents, it likely wouldn't be over 25%. I don't know if this man is just too dumb to know he could still make significant money even with garnishments, or if he's so stubborn that he'd rather not work than have to pay any money to support his children.

One of my biggest peeves (which i know stems from my own trauma), is people who had the choice of having kids, but didn't think "hey, maybe we should make sure we are actually ready to have kids (like financially)". But no, people just be popping them babies into the world, seemingly with no real thought as to how they will be able to care for them properly. DONT HAVE KIDS, IF YOU CAN'T TAKE CARE OF THEM HOW THEY SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. IF YOU CAN'T PROPERLY SUPPORT KIDS AND HAVE A FAMILY, DON'T DO IT. I am a mother of five, we live in a four bedroom house though. I had an office set up with all of my crafting materials, scrapbooking stuff, my desk, my printer, I’m really into DIY and I kept all of my materials in this room right off my bedroom as my little “girl cave“ I called it. The moment I found out I was pregnant with my last child, I pulled everything out of that room, tucked away my closet, moved my desk to my bedroom, moved the printer to the dining room, etc. so that All of my children have their own rooms, (except for my twins* who WANTED to share.) I am obviously not against people having large families, but there are occupancy laws for a reason. You cannot stuff people into small spaces like sardines. It’s not good for their mental or even physical well-being.

This guy has tendencies similar to my narcissistic ex husband. 1. He’s a literal bum with all these aspirations but always has an excuse why he’s not reaching his potential or “doesn’t feel good” so he can’t do the things he’s talking about. 2. It’s always about him and his comfort. He needs to be treated like a king and waited on, hand and foot or else he’ll flip and act like she’s a terrible wife. To the point of even making her prioritize his WANTS over their children’s NEEDS. 3. As soon as he feels slighted in any way (like his ex making him pay child support through the court to support HIS child) he NEEDS to get revenge and make that person suffer 10x more than he feels he did or else he’ll explode. Hence why he is making all his children suffer by choosing not to get a normal job just to spite the ex and not pay the child support so he can feel like he “won”. 4. He needs the MAXIMUM about of praise and attention for doing the SMALLEST most simple thing. I bet he never does anything for those kids but after he cut those little strawberries or whatever he was like “See everybody thinks I don’t do anything cause you don’t post the things I do. Show them what I did because I’m so misunderstood boohoo”. Truly pathetic. Thank GOD I was only married to my ex husband for a year, had no kids, and got out of there asap when I realized who he truly is. People like this always build up a fantasy of a beautiful future but the reality is they never change. Just finalized my divorce and happier than ever while he’s pissed and miserable 😂 If anyone reading this feels like they recognize these signs in their partners and is questioning if they should leave… my life is so much better and I am so much happier without him in it. Yes it hurt a lot at first but when I would look back at the beautiful pictures of us together, all I could remember is exactly what he did to me right before, how he treated me right after, how there was not a day where I felt at peace or truly happy with that man and how he did everything to make sure that was the case. All I could see when I looked at those beautiful pictures was masked misery. I was so disappointed in myself afterwards because how could I put myself through this, how could I have been with a man like this and how did I let myself put up with all this for as long as I did. But that’s where self forgiveness comes in. He deceived me from the beginning. He did everything in his power to win me over and was the perfect man to me till we got married and he felt he had me locked down. Then he stopped doing all the things he used to and blamed everything on me. He had me doing cartwheels, doing everything I possibly could to make him happy because he made me believe he would treat me like he used to in the beginning if I did. But the fact is all that stuff he used to do was never who he is but just a facade he kept up long enough to “get me”. He was never going to change his cruel ways, he just wanted me to spend the rest of my life as a slave to his desires. I was lucky to see through this early. Being alone is so much more peaceful and I can actually love myself and take care of myself the way I deserve and the way he tried so hard to stop me from doing. I’ll find a man who truly loves me and deserves my love and you will too. And for the record, I have him blocked but he still makes fake accounts to stalk my instagram and is PISSED that I’m actually happy without him 😂

what makes this whole situation even crazier is the mom isn’t even married to the guy because she’s still legally married to her ex who is in prison for raping his mother and a minor edit: for people wanting to look into the ex his name is jeremiah christian thompson

Good lord above! I can see why she thinks she has a Prince in this guy now, after what she's had in the past. It makes me wonder what the next one will be like after this one has done a runner (taking the PS5 with him, of course.)

as a kid who lived in a 1 bedroom apartment with 5 ppl my parents tried so hard to put us very first and it was still a lot on my mental as a little kid like this seemingly being a choice is so disappointing
@youwillsucceed4rlz2 ай бұрын
i feel bad for these kids cause cps in that area has already said they aint doing anything about them cause of their backlog and they haven't seen them doing anything that warrants taking them... plus some of the American foster care system can be far worse than them sleeping on the living room and kitchen floor of a 1bd apt, unfortunately.

2:06 hey btw cooper, in a lot of poverty struck households you might get random donations like technology. growing up i never knew if we were gonna be able to eat that month, so i would often skip meals so my siblings could eat. we also had a ps4, a ps5, several vr headsets, lots of donated phones and tablets and computers etc.., and even two gaming PCs. i think it's because people wanna feel like they're helping without actually helping, and donate technology instead of food or money. or maybe it's the mindset of "you're poor i bet you don't even have a phone, so i'll give you a whole arcade" or something, and then they get to pat themselves on the back for "helping".

Random donations from where? From who? Food banks here only take food donations. I've never heard of this so I'm intrigued
@someone-gi5lq2 ай бұрын
@demi3329 not the food banks. my dad would beg for food and money online and usually rich people would donate toys, tech, _sometimes_ they would actually give us money, beds, one time we got a playground set and it lasted a good while. we would have sold a lot of it cause we were waaayy below the poverty line and borderline homeless for most of my life, but we had bedbugs so we couldn't. rich people like dumping their useless shit on underprivileged poor people so i got a lot of fun toys and barely any of the things i actually needed. i think this guy since he most likely doesn't have bedbugs should probably sell his ps5.
@Frankiepop09052 ай бұрын
This is not common at all, and most poor families would then sell a fucking ps5 to feed their kids. They might receive old school technology but my parents still would have tried to sell it to make dinner
@someone-gi5lq2 ай бұрын
@Frankiepop0905 i didn't say it was common, nor did i say he was a good person. i just thought it would be a possibility that he didn't buy it himself. i agree he should sell it, and if my family had the opportunity we would have sold our stuff too. it's not super common but it happens enough that i have friends who relate to not having food or clothes, but having a random vr headset you can't use because they didn't think to send the power cables.

The long term lice that the kids have suffered with is reason enough for CPS to get involved
@carlismycat2 ай бұрын
Lice is NOT that difficult to get rid of 🤦🏻♀️. My DD had it and it took me one week to remove all the eggs and lice. By myself and her hair was LONG past her butt. I had a home daycare, & 3 other children, one was a newborn. ) No one else caught it but me. It took another month vx I was trying to rid them by myself with no help. I was so ashamed and they weren't offering professional services except 2 hours away. I'm hindsight I should have went to the professional. But I didn't have a 1bedroom apt. I lived in a 2k sq ft home with 3bedrooms and my DD had her own room. My two boys shared a room andt baby was in my room.t point is, wow 😮 she cannot handle her life and children and home, to get rid of something in at least two weeks (the eggs will hatch again if you don't get them all) ? “Months” ???? 😢holy cow unacceptable. I can guess it was much longer than “months” . When I was a kid I had it once. Never reaccuring. Mt mom took us all the Dr and got a prescription shampoo and it was all gone after that first treatment. This was in the 80s

As a person who has lived in poverty and been on the verge of homelessness three times, these parents deff don’t care about those damn kids. I know what it’s like to save money for things I want, but priority’s ALWAYS come first. I payed up on my bills way before I started saving for my wants. Your need always come first. They absolutely can save money to get their kids beds and a better space in the house to sleep, they are choosing not to. They do not deserve those poor babies. My parents used to do the same thing these parents do. My parents wound go buy an XBox, a projection TV, tons of random dinner dates at the most expensive restaurants all while we’re getting sent notices from the landlord telling us we better pay rend or we’ll be evicted. These parents seem to be doing something similar where they buy all the things they want and neglect their children’s needs. Edit to add: That woman saying “I won’t do that gentle parent bs” or whatever the heck she said is so annoying. Gentle parenting is 1000000 times better than how neglectful she’s being right now. This woman should not be a parent. (Edit: Spelling mistakes.)
