Hey Chuck, our Toledo (092) terminal has a run that pulls twin '48 trailer using a tandem dolly. Dave G pulls them but he has Extra training to do so and his tandem tractor is outfitted specifically for this. We as P&D drivers are not allowed to use Dave's tractor for city use. I tell other P&D drivers don't even look at his truck.... Lol Thanks for the videos. All Truth. I've been with Estes since 2004

I remember on one of the first line haul runs I ever did at XPO my lead trailer was overweight by nearly 1500 at the rear, yet it made it over 1000 miles of driving from three or four different drivers before I scaled it and found it. I knew it right away because the trailer wheels looked flat from the extra weight. I’ve since gone back to doing P&D

I’m a fresh cdl a holder with double/triple and tanker. I took my hazmat test on Feb 5. Passed it. Needed fingerprints. Got them Feb 7. The new law dropped on Feb 7 for needing classes for hazmat. I’m being told that I’ll have to have classes to get my hazmat even though I took and passed the test before the deadline. Not having hazmat has already prevented me from getting hired at Old Dominion. I’m not sure they will give me my hazmat when the fingerprints clear. I’m stuck in a grey area where nobody has answers. It’s frustrating. Supposedly you can’t take the test until you pass the hazmat course. I’ve already taken the test. So it would seem like I should be good to go but it’s looking like the BMV doesn’t think that’s the case. So here we are, stuck, nobody knows where to go or the cost for hazmat, which we need to get hired in for these local home daily ltl jobs that provide the training we need. I have no clue what to do.

A lot of trucking companies hire veterans, if your mos is military transport I think you get your CDL automatically. I know Army 88M you get your civilian CDL. I’m thinking about re enlisting in the reserves as a 88M either this year or the next before I turn 33 which is the cut off. I’m doing the YRC freight driving academy on the 14th to get my CDL. If they started paying us by the mile in the UK I don’t think I’d continue trucking. I don’t think I could sit at distribution centres for the utterly ludicrous times that we get delayed, knowing I’m not getting payed for that time. Paid by the mile would simply not make any sense here. I’d much rather get paid for my time.
