Not A Lot of Water at Lake Moomaw

After some scouting to make sure there's still plenty of water, we do some splash and gos and get a lot of waves.

Any idea why it’s so low? I was there this morning and it seems it’s about 20 feet low

I don't know about Moomaw specifically, but in general, this is the time of year when bodies of water like this are lowered on purpose to allow for shoreline/dam maintenance and to make room for winter/spring precipitation. Edit: I did a little looking and found this from the VDWR website: "Lake Moomaw is the second largest impoundment in western Virginia. It covers 2,530 surface acres and has a maximum depth of 152 feet. The impoundment is “drawn down” between 10-15 feet annually, beginning slowly in June and reaching its lowest level usually by September."
