Would love your thoughts on the balance, this looks like THE THING for me but from what I’ve seen about KP’s player options and spell balance I was underwhelmed. Especially stuff that can break a game, so would love your take, whether in video form or comment! edit: typo

Thank you for the review. Question would you recommend picking up vol 1 if I already have the original one? Is there enough of a difference between the two to make buying vol 1 worth it in your opinion?

If you are the kind of person who picks up the DVD edition of starwars while already having them on VCR, then yes. The movies are essentially the same but some stuff is remastered and just looks and feels a bit different. So outside of the class (Theurge) nothing huge.

I wouldn't bother, unless they ironed out some wrinkles. Too many situational spells, an over bloat of tracking and marking spells and even weird ritual tags on some that are cray-cray.

So I decided to purchase them. First impressions, 1. I was able to find misprints on a quick glance 2. The new classes thurge, and witch feel incomplete 3. I’m pretty sure there’s some spells they just reprinted without rebalancing example is deep focus. I know this sounds negative but the classes are very flavorful and the mechanics seem to reenforce the concept

I've been reading my way through these since i got the pdfs last month, and so far I don't have any complaints about balance. Memento Mori can be found on p 200 of DM2. It still stuns on a failed CHA save, but the range has been reduced to 5ft, and a creature who succeeds its save is immune to further castings of the spell for 24hrs. So its still very strong, but not completely busted.

I noticed void magic wasn't there. Did i miss it or did they change it?

It's been removed, though the Void itself is still mentioned in the Mythos magic section. I assume they chose not to include it because it was meant primarily for DM use, and therefore "shouldn't" have been included in the original printing.

Just posting this in case someone is thinking about buying the book and goes here. Do not buy these books UNLESS, you are willing to rebalance every spell and subclass in the book. As they are, the spells are over complicated, wildly inconsistent with power for its level, and a lot of times too niche to ever be useful. The book can provide some fun ideas if you enjoy making homebrew, but at the end of the day you will be spending 40-50 hours rewriting the book to fit it in your campaign if you want to use it.
