The one Jerry tried is pretty slick though, and still dirt cheap compared to a can! That said, even the cheap ones are functional brakes, mine seems to have similar or slightly better compensation than the A2 birdcage. Difficult to say due to the low recoil of the cartridge, but the reduction in blast/concussion with high-pressure ammo is significant. Great if you shoot with friends or at a busy range.

@@parrisgeorge9708 I would agree but I believe the gas would be slowed down by a pretty large margin as with a lot of brakes the gasses are forced back from the brake at an angle.
@CountryBoy-zl4fh4 жыл бұрын
It definitely negates the use of the comp by not allowing the gases to escape out the sides and do it's job of reducing muzzle jump.

Linear comp, or blast can are some alternative names for the concept. You're essentially turning off the recoil-mitigation of the muzzle device in exchange for less concussion.

Might need this for my PLR16, that thing is stupid loud. Edit: the damn thing is $175, that's half what I paid for my PLR.

Indian Creek Design has these as well, but they are universal and work with any flash-hider/compensator that is out there except for the big boxy ones.

Most makers of supressors have a similar product. Like the SureFire Warden, etc. But most only work with their own muzzle devices, so that might be the biggest consideration in what brand to choose.

@txdocprich_84044 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t seem like much difference
@AlexBoom734 жыл бұрын
That is because the Camera's microphone flattens out the deicibel peaks when its recording. thats why a gunshot in a video sounds loud but not "loud" the only way to know the difference is to actually have a decibel meter at a fixed position (close to the shooters ear position) and do this same test again, then you can visualy see the difference
@PB_4 жыл бұрын
Microphones mostly suck at comparing loudness. They automatically lower the recorded volume to „talking“ loudness. Also the Cam(+Mic probably) wasn‘t near the shooters face where the difference is supposed to be noticable. Tbh this video is useless. The only correct way to show its effectiveness is using a dB-meter where the head of the shooter would be.
@jcims4 жыл бұрын
@MVia Seems like it would negate some of the effectiveness of the compensator though? Even in this vid it seems like there's a wee more muzzle flip with it on. Are you able to notice that at all?

Remembering a sound mitigation story 40-50 years ago in a shooting magazine (the paper kind you read) where the shooter aligned old car tires in a light frame or box and shot through the alignment at the target - not intended as a mobile device, but to reduce noise complaints from neighbors. Don’t remember whether he measured the mitigation level, but maybe effective enough to warrant a published article?

I use one of these when I shoot around barricades and stuff, helps stop gas blowback hitting you in the face. It also stops that concision that gives you a headache after shooting a couple hundred rounds. I’m running this on a ptr32 in 7.62x39 though.

@@jamesegsmith It can if you dont know what to listen for. The difference in noise is definitely noticeable from the cameras perspective. Its probably more noticeable in person, and if your on the receiving end I bet it is probably very noticeable.
