but jay, shouldn't the pump be lower than the rad? isn't the air going the caught in the pump on that GPU?
@Jayztwocents

ideally yes, BUT we are going to find out how long it lasts this way lol. So far no issues as it seems MSI did a very good vacuum fill and there is hardly any air at all in the gpu loop. In fact changing it to the front is extremely easy so its not a bad experiment.

Ok so going ahead and changing the GPU rad location, it definitely gets some bubbles periodically in the pump which doeant make noise, but it does lead to temp spikes here and there. I was hoping that I could have gotten away with it a little longer that I did but oh well.

But I didn’t think it wood work. - The Wood Glue I just bought doesn’t stick. I guess I got the wouldn’t glue instead. - My boss told me to attach two pieces of wood together. @@MeatNinja No:(...I bought them before daisy chain fans were even a thing. If I was doing a new build I can understand why someone would use daisy chain fans to cut back on the cords. But you can't beat the quality and the noise to performance ratio. I doubt I will ever use another brand of fan honestly. I think I am fine with some extra cables. Their fans also have short cables and then they give you extension cables plus Y cables to combine fans so you can daisy chain with Y cables and then use one extension to the fan header. It is not that bad since you don't have rgb cables on top of the normal cables.

this is one of the cleaner builds i've seen, lately. I think we need to go back to the old school modding days, when people used to make their own cases with wood... Back to the roots. I was huge into modding p.c.s back in the day, back when the mod zoo was the place to be... I miss those days... When it was so cool to see everyone's build logs, and the final results... This would have been one of those builds that would have fit into that category! I love it!

That Antec case goes _really_ well in the office setup there - great stuff, Jay! TBH, the gunmetal colour of the GPU card is a nice subtle highlight in the case. Enjoyed the build montage and the music. I'll say it again, if this case was available a few months ago, it would have been a very close call between this Antec case and the Fractal North which I went with for new gaming rig. - If I end up building a new dev box, I'll probably go with this Antec case. Glad to hear the new case and the whole desk _feng shui_ "brings you joy" - I get those exact same quoted words from the missus about the ThermalTake Tower 200 build I recently put together for her. :) I don't know if he's still with us, but with this timber themed episode, it would have been great to get the actor Edward Woodward in to the studio to check out the setup. In the 1980s, "Craftwood" was a brand name for the then, very new MDF. Yep, they got in Edward Woodward to do a TV commercial for "Craftwood" and Edward mentioned his firstname and surname and the brand name a few times in the 30 second commercial. Is that enough mention of "wood" for you, Jay?!

When you go with a high wattage PSU it really put some demand on the power lines in the building. Back many years ago I took a server class PSU home from work because the PSU in my machine had burned up. The dead PSU was either a BeQuiet 600W or something else from a known brand. I can't remember exactly. Thing is my machine probably maxed out at 350W, so there were not really all that much power needed. Anyway I brought home a 460W PSU from a very good manufacturer, but it was industrial design, and back then you could count on the efficiency being between 60 and 70 percent, so it liked it's power. Another thing was that the inrush current was huge, and the capacitor charged during inrush was freaking huge, so it blew the circuit breaker the moment you switched the power button on the PSU. I had to move it to it's own circuit and then it just barely managed to handle the inrush. Now I live in Sweden and we have 230V 50Hz AC in the wall and the circuit breakers installed were 5 Ampere so it should be able to handle about 1100W on one circuit. But the inrush current wasn't shy so with about 100W in the form of my monitor on the same circuit the breaker just gave up. Now if the circuit breakers had been just slightly larger, 7.5 A is pretty common, it wouldn't have been a problem. Here 9 Ampere circuit breakers are really the limit for ordinary plugs so 2KW is usually a safe load and most heating elements go right to the line and pull 2KW. But yea, if you go above 2 KW here you will have to use a another socket. Fortunately that's not something I am currently seeing as a problem for new computers other than servers and some really powerful workstations.

i think one of these days ill build a desktop setup. I currently rock a Alienware M16 gaming laptop with a 13900hx, 6gb ddr5, 4080, 2tb nvme in raid 0 and some nice speakers Edifier MR4. Only reason I went this route was for space reasons but would like a Desktop in the future. Maybe a small ITX or Mini ITX build.

i will always go for rgb fans because of the flexibility. i never have full rainbow, i just have a subtle orange glow which looks really good. but i alsohave the option to turn them off if i want to

That looks nice. Mine is not a million miles from that. Case on the floor, Audio Engine speakers, bigger curved monitor, but a similar vibe. Only trouble is, I have a lot of additional clutter. ;-)

i think it would look even better with rgb fans on the front... and all inside black, just the slight rgb from rtx aio and mb and them the front aimed light would give a nice touch

You want a Badass Big but rather cheap case! Thermaltake CTE C750 Air E-ATX Full Tower, i have it all blacked out with only seeing White RGB RAM and the XFX white on my GPU it looks so badass.

Can I offer you some advice. Put a Chord Electronics Qutest between the PC and the active speakers. Run optical into the Qutest, then analogue line level out from the Qutest into the speakers. (Probably at 1v line level from the Qutest. You'd know what I mean if you bought one. They can be set at 1v, 2v, 3v, and you choose depending on the amplifier input.) Run the Qutest for month if you can get a loan, or just trust me and buy one. The reason I say that is because Chord Electronic's DACs can appear to sound bright on first impression. It can take anything up to a month to adjust. However once you get used to the sound, there is 'no going back'. Another suggestion is listen to some music that you have never heard before, through the Chord. That way you are not A-B between what you normally hear, and the new Chord sound.

You could alternatively try with the Chord Electronics Mojo 2. It's battery or 5v powered. When in desktop use meaning having been plugged in for 24 hours, the battery disconnects and it runs from 5V.

The audiophile elitist community is so full of BS and hyped up on the kool-aid I can't tell if you're sharing a genuinely good DAC or shilling some snake oil.

I'm currently busy with a scratch build using wood and it's growing into the hardest build yet. At least my wife loves it.

I still want to do a wood and brass build, but two things. 1) EKWB is the only one (to my knowledge) that has wood inlay CPU blocks, and 2) they are only for Intel, and well... Intel.
Is this the future for PC? Back Connect / BTF is CLEAN AF!
