Yes, really not worth trying to replace them, I expect as soon as I have replaced half a dozen, another half a dozen would fail 🤣🤣 Cheaper to buy a new set.

Can you not take the circuit board out and have a look at how it works? Is it a 555 timer on the board?

That is tomorrows video, it does look like a 555 timer, but the chip on the circuit board is a Y1861. I found the data sheet. Quote - YX861A is a high-efficiency, two-function (often Bright/flashing) solar energy string boost control chip.
