he's not saying decorate, he's saying decorticate, which means to remove bark or a husk or a peel if it's a banana. so, "decorticate this banana and you'll reveal it's got sex A-PEEL" well done, Mr. Emu, making me google words only to realize you punned on me
@chamathangelo94952 жыл бұрын
damn that's subtle
@vayly63462 жыл бұрын
It could also be a slight double entendre, since decortication can also refer to the medical state of becoming rigid/stiff with bend arms/limbs following a traumatic brain injury. Stiffen/rigid his banana. Layers to this joke, for sure.

Right!?! I'm late to the party, just having discovered him a week ago, but I'm already HOOKED!! It's insane!!!! The next impromptu livingroom dance party I find myself at, first of all, I'ma play some Jazz Emu, and secondly, I'm going to bring Pharonic Hands back into my dance oeuvre. Although I'll incorporate Emu's loose, goofily-awesome inversion and side-step combo. As tribute. The hand dance he's doing? That's really close to a bellydance move, as named above. You usually hold candles, or, tiny LEDs these days, in your flattened hands. Then, you slowly, using tight control and isolation, dance, pose, pop & lock, all while keeping your hands in that same position the whole time. Usually with palms up, though. It's part of the more tight-isolation Asian styles of bellydance. There are many different styles that come from a variety of different regions. From Africa, the Middle East, India, Asia, Polynesia, and even parts of Europe and the Americas. Think Thai dancing with those shiny, pointy cones on your fingers, and tight, almost imperceptible body isolation, vs Polynesian dancing with the furiously-paced, loose, wild hip circles.

Dear Mr. Emu, This was the first work of yours to bless my eyes, ears, and soul. 'Twas a beautiful beginning to my Jazz Emu appreciation. I sent this to my sister, an elementary music teacher, and she responded, "That video just gave me a GREAT new dance move to share with the children (the side to side hand flippies)" I hope it brings you joy to imagine a 30-something music teacher training her children in the act of hand flippies at an elementary school in Texas. Affectionately and Respectfully, Bethany

@insertpithynamehere2 жыл бұрын
@@JazzEmui commented about this at great length earlier, but the hand flippies are actually very similar to a bellydance move called Pharonic Hands. You're doing inverted Pharonic Hands, while incorporating a sassy side-step. This will totally be a part of the next impromptu livingroom dance party I find myself at. Also, I've been spreading your amazing art as far and wide as I possibly can. It's been a week. I'm already HOOKED, and on a complete mission. The name Jazz Emu will be on the lips and in the hearts of all appreciators of hysterically wry lyrics, spectacularly funky jazz, a total devotion to a wicked aesthetic, and amazing videos.

The tie is actually like an individual character here. It's tight at the beginning, loosens up, is lost and then reappears to end up being tied but loose. I can't see if in the very final shot it's still present but the collar seems more open than it was a second before. I don't know if this was intentional but anyway the concept is really interesting and the video, like every other, is just genius :)
@ourtalechara9341 Жыл бұрын
I think of it not as being that the tie is it's own character, but that the tie helps communicate the attitude of karaoke man. At the beginning, he's nervous and self conscious, gradually becoming more confident over the course of the song. The tie loosens as he lets go of his anxieties and begins to have fun. And, at the very end, he comes back to earth, realizing how into the song he got
