Major General Dr Madhuri Kanitkar, former Dean of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, has been promoted to the second-highest rank of Lt General in the Indian Army. Lieutenant general Punita arora of Army medical corp was the woman officer to reach and get promoted as three star lady officer. She was also the first women to get service inter change with Indian Navy and became surgeon vice admiral.

Can one deny that lady officers in the army are not : 1.Not posted to Siachen 2.Not posted to LOC 3.Not posted to LAC 4.Not sent on LRP 5.Exempted from BPET 6.Till the other day we're not posted to HI Alti. They sit in the cantonments and preen themselves and are detailed only for ceremonial duties. Besides she is not a combatant but an AMC officer. Obvioshe has climbed the promotion ladder doing only ceremonial duties.
