Over the past 70 years, the worldwide Total Fertility Rate (TFR) has plummeted by over half, dropping from approximately five children per female in 1950 to 2.2 children in 2021, with over half of all countries and territories (110 out of 204) now reporting TFRs below the population replacement threshold of 2.1 births per female as of 2021. This decline underscores a global trend towards reduced fertility rates. Meanwhile, in 2023, America witnessed a distressing milestone with over 1 MILLION abortions annually, signaling a troubling reversal from the declining abortion rates observed in the 2000s-a clear indication of regression in our nation's reproductive health landscape.

I really hate the right’s position on the birthing crisis. For most people, it has nothing to do with being selfish. No one can afford to have kids anymore! I can’t even buy a damn house. If I’m going to have kids, I’d want to give them a life (or an opportunity to) I never had. I’d want better for them. I don’t want to raise children in a one bedroom apartment teetering on poverty. We need to fix the inflation and housing crisis here… it needs to be more affordable. Then I’ll have kids.

This is flawed. The causes are modern feminism and modern culture, coupled with social media and the insane inequity of the dating market. The economy is a weak argument. People had no problem having kids during the Great Depression. We aren’t even close to that. The 3rd world has no problem having kids. Here in America people that have kids are usually a household of combined incomes, also they get massive tax breaks.
@bris.e
@bris.e 9 күн бұрын
I agree, economy is just a weak argument. Many of us here were born in a poor family and had no issues with. If you are worried about that, you are worried because of you, not because of your children. What’s the worst that can happen when having a kid on a 1 bed apartment? That you do not have a big patio or a garage to have a playground? Come on, kids do not care about that, you do! Don’t lose the opportunity to be a young parent just because you think you do not have “enough”. Btw, I am speaking from the position of someone new in this country, living the same insecurities as you but ready to bring someone to live. Better times are coming. See you on the other side.

@ferndog1461 I agree 100% with your last statement. I am just assuming people will take the time to pick someone that is reasonable, not and OF model or a crazy chick that will make your bleed money to keep an insane social media lifestyle. What I say is that, after you have a reasonable person by your side don’t base having kids on the fact that you’ll be able to get them what society defines today as a “decent” life. I consider society has gone a little bit out or rode on that path.

@@TheSSEssesse I completely disagree. I have known enough number of rich people having more kids be it Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, most Royal families, etc. Any man who grew with a silver spoon in his mouth, owns a house and a car is able to attract woman and is able to give birth to offsprings. It's the basic natural law: males with more resources (alpha males) are able to to successfully mate with females and reproduce, be it humans, birds, or other mammals. Among humans, it's the lower middle income bracket people, who are too busy to make money for their survival have no time and resources to reproduce. These are the people who also pay the most in taxes, and get least help from the Govt. There are many examples of those as well.

Children are NOT expensive. They start out tiny and eat very little. Their clothes are also small and affordable. If you have a baby shower, you get all the baby gear you need gifted to you. Education is free or nearly free. Home school is much improved by accredited online curricula nowdays. Children are only expensive if you want them to be expensive because that gives you a fake excuse to not bother yourself with having any. We didnt set aside a penny for college savings. Our kids worked hard, made good grades and earned scholarships. If your kids cant do that, they shouldnt be going to college.

There wasn’t a problem with reproduction during the world wars and Great Depression, arguably the worst and most frightening time in human history. It’s all about the destruction of gender dynamics. Most men are going sexless, let alone being able to find a decent woman to marry. Women now are simply not interested in men unless they are top 10%ers. This is the main cause.

In Junior High School back in the early 1970's, we 'Baby Boomers' were told to have only 1 or at the most 2 children. "It's a Population Explosion!" they said. And it was up to our generation to put a stop to the insanity. Nearly every day, some teacher would tell us how the earth cannot possibly sustain so many people. They also preached that we needed a college degree or we would never be able to have the American Dream. Children were the poison that would kill all of our hopes and dreams for a better life. Yes. This is what we were constantly told, and I suspect that the PTB knew this would necessitate what is occurring now.

And at some point you will get mad with the person without kids has the women and the vacation time and the nicer car, and the bigger house, because we are jealous creatures. I am a 36 year old woman with a 14 year old boy. I’ve been wanting to have another baby but inflation won’t let it happen. I have to work part time to help my husband with the bills. I would’ve wanted nothing more in this life than to be a stay at home mom raising many kids and it just hasn’t been possible 😢 every year that I’ve thought I could finally not work something happens, our mortgage goes up, bills go up, groceries, you name it. I know this has been done on purpose, the higher ups want to discourage people from having families and destroy the only purpose that’s God had for his people on earth wich was to be fruitful and multiply 😢

@oneperson5760
@oneperson5760 13 күн бұрын
No. Having children is the opposite of selfish. In having children, you love somebody else more than yourself, you spend less time on you and more time on others. You make decisions less centered on you and more centered on others. Its all about selflessness. And theres no problem with having enough resources for everyone, because y’all arent having children, so there will be plenty for those who do have children. With falling population and birthrates, having children is a very good thing.
@ETAonTheEUC

@@oneperson5760 I think everything people do is selfish, even having kids. You have kids because you want kids. You care for kids because you want to care for kids. It's not to say selfishness is bad, but it's still a selfish thing. But to turn around and say someone else is selfish for not having kids is hypocritical because everything people do is for selfish reasons.

@@dreaminez472 , a good parent can shelter children from the worst of things. Good parents always have. Life is not promised to be all daisies and butterflies and stress-free. I am open to the possibilities that still exist until the clock stops and have always left the adoption door open. Loving children ❤️ has never been a problem. As a godmother of 3, I feel like for some women, it's a deeper reason not to procreate. There is a spiritual shift happening for all humans, so I know in proficiency We as One will down size.
