I've heard Brian Jones was a troubled soul but Brian was an incredible talent.. I also prefer the Brian Jones era. Thank you for posting. Buddy Holly influenced the Stones as well as The Beatles.

I’ve just read you’re comment and it drew me to an amazing coincidence! Buddy Hollys Grandfather on his Fathers side was from the same English town as Mick Jagger which is Dartford AND Buddy Hollys great great Grandfather was from Liverpool in England the same place the Beatles came from! Not relevant but very coincidental!

Most gifted musician of the group. He found some marimbas in the studio and used them for the recording of Under My Thumb. Try to imagine the song without the marimbas. He played virtually any instrument.

My favourite Stones song. I saw them 3 times over the years and kept hoping they would perform it. Not even in 1966 when they first played Toronto. Brian was still with us. Would have loved to hear him play his harmonica on this song.

I first saw the Rolling Stones on the Clay Cole TV Show in early 1964 performing Not Fade Away. I'm not sure this is that performance. But it's very similar with Mick shaking the four maracas. I knew at that time the Rolling Stones were going to be huge and Mick would become a legend. It was obvious right from the start - that appearance was etched into my memory.

I had a Rolling Stones greatest hits cassette that had this on it . My first of many Stones Albums. I was around 10 years old . It Was sort of like Hot Rocks but different. So I loved this song so much . A little bit after a had this we got cable and on showtime they showed “ The Buddy Holly Story” that had just come out that year. The movie had Buddy Holly singing this! I was wow he is playing a Rolling Stones song lol . My Dad informed me no Son That’s a Buddy Holly song and the Stones covered it. Stones Rule always have always will!

Of all the stones songs, this first one, originally by buddy Holly, is one of my favorite, it just blew me away, my favorite rock or pop song ever recorded is Angie, by the rolling stones, a all around masterpiece also love paint it black, but their version of not fade away, literally blows me away, I can see why they were literally neck and neck with the Beatles and the beach boys, if it wasn't for veitnam starting, it would be a blast to live in 1964, I was born in 68, the begining of the end
