Have you not read the books? Even in the movie the showdown was the whole point of the concert. Lestat was trying to provoke the elder vampires out of their hiding. The books covered everything much better than QOTD which was trying to combine three novels and too much of that story was lost.

Brightest Light I read the books a long time ago. They were great and I loved the movie too, especially since Jonathan Davis wrote the songs. The movie version of Lestat was cool imo. Most movies have a habit of cutting corners to make a plot simpler or easier to follow

Seriously miss the days when "vampire culture" fandom belonged to a select few. Now it's all too common. This came out when I was in middle school, and I checked out this film from the library, and the girl across the counter looked at me like I was some strange, creepy thing. Now I get treated like I'm apart of the whole thing because of Twilight. I mean, come on! I grew up on the Hammer films and other Dracula films, The Lost Boys, Interview, etc...

The supernatural and paranormal genres were not the daily subject of pop media. And I was 14 years old, checking out a movie entitled "Queen of the Damned" with a woman clad in a Princess Leia-esque bikini top and a half-naked man behind her, and both had vampire teeth, from a public library, in a society (and a time) where being gothic was considered strange and creepy.
