When doing hole saws try running the drill in reverse first so it will not catch but will evenly chissel into the wood so the cut is even (not on an angle) and it won't skip all over the place. You will know when to change from reverse to forward when the hole saw is in the wood a 1/16 of an inch or so.... you always do an excellent job by the way and I only found this tip about a week ago (and I am 68) so lots to learn in life

Many years ago when I lived in Florida We had those nasty Palmetto Bugs (Cockroaches) getting into the house. An old-timer there told me to cover the vent pipe with window screen. The bugs can smell the sewer gas and make their way in via the vent pipe. They can actually get through the water filled traps. I took his advice and instantly the problem was cut by at least 90%.

Each step forward is getting you closer to your goal. Once you have your addition part livable it will make it easier to tackle the rest. Those piers under the rest of the house shouldn’t be that scary- look how many you’ve already done! Yeah Doug and Ashley, you make a great team

So I have to say I’m suprised at the bathroom drain/vent configuration. My toilet, sink and tub/shower has the exact same layout. Only difference is the primary pipes r 4”. They all vent out the same place. I thought my grandpa did it wrong. Learned something today. Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Great video today folks! Doug, your work skills & ethics are amazing as usual in my opinion. your Music choices during plumbing building was very soothing. have a great day family!

Hahaha, a true plumber's nightmare. And I thought you had the piers all done. But, I see your logic, and agree. Ny only suggestion is, because your holes are so large. Take some fine steel wool, and place it, in the hole around your pipes, to prevent the rats & snakes from squirming in. (Rats can't chew through steel wool.) Or you can use foam sealer with rat repellent. Steel wool is cheaper but your choice. Great job, Doug!

A tip for you and others, as I see a lot of guys struggle with this: right after the hole saw makes contact, stop the drill, and drill three or four small holes ( 3/16 or 1/4 inch, whatever you have ) at the circumference of the hole. This will help alleviate the problem you had @ 04:35! Peace!

My dearly departed and much loved, ex-father in law, was famous for saying "it's good enough for government work", which may be true, but he helped my ex-husband and I build our starter home. 36 years later it's easy to see he may have over estimated his building prowess. Now my oldest son is living in the home and has begun the daunting task of fixing all the things that need repair. Yeah it was cheap to build but it's going to cost as much if not more to repair it. Best to do it right the first time. You guys are doing a great job. Pa, my father in law would have approved but he would think you were being too precise and careful.
