Fun fact: 🦄 unicorns are Scotland’s National animal :- “With its white horse-like body and single spiralling horn, the unicorn is a symbol of purity, innocence and power in Celtic mythology. Legend also tells that their horns can purify poisoned water, such is the strength of their healing power.” By adopting the unicorn as your family animal kinda makes you honorary Scots 🏴 xxx

Hey Doug and Ashley good job with the demo. Just a thought a lot of older houses in the south have wraparound porches you could connect the front porch to where ya'll was going to put a balcony and screen in the section from the bedroom to the front porch would come in handy for the months when flies and other pests are out. I love seeing the transformation with the build and ya'll are doing awesome

It would be nice to reuse the lumber to build a dock out over the pond. A screen porch would be great to keep mosquitoes away, you could even sleep out there. I sure enjoy mine. Good job cleaning out the woods, Ashley. I’m always amazed at how people throw trash out on their property. My granddaughter asked me to get her a “real” unicorn for Christmas, if only I could. So I bought a blanket with unicorn horn and face along with stuffed toy. She seemed pleased. As I always say, be safe. Sending big hugs.

We loved getting Pepsi in one of those 16oz returnable bottles. We did return those, too. They're from back in my teenage days. Now, that tells some about my age. Lol. I don't drink pop anymore, but honestly, there's nothing better than an ice-cold soda made with real sugar in a 16oz returnable bottle. Today, sodas are really bad with all corn syrup, fructose, etc.. Plus, we didn't have all the plastic back then. Good to see the progress you're making on your property. 👍 :) Enjoy watching.

Great job cleaning up the property Ashley. Great job with the porch tear-down Doug, especially with the excavator. It really came in handy. A covered, screened in porch in the South is a must. But it still has to be aesthetically pleasing and should, as far as I am concerned, look original to the house. Whoever built your old porch was a jack. I am sure that your old house is very grateful for all the work you are doing, not only to shore her up, but to beautify her as well. Folks in the area will not recognize the old place once you're done. They probably don't even recognize it now!

The cleanup is really going well. I have a car engine buried in my garden so when I renovate I always remember where it is when the shovel hits something hard! you should get the Road Magnet 60" Length for the forklift addon of your john deere to drag around/push around the yard to pick up and loose screws and nails, it would be a bad day if you, ash or any of the kids accidently step on one and it goes through a shoe or you son out exploring, and trip over a rock or a root and land on one. Great feeling to get all that trash cleaned up. And glad they used cans for targets, not bottles!! I'm still finding pieces of bottles mostly dime or quarter size in a certain spot in my backyard almost 20 years after moving in. 😜 Amazing how different a house can look simply by taking off a small porch! It really was in bad shape, even the posts looked rotten where broke off at the concrete. Love that excavator!! 😀👍👏❤️

Some of those bottles r really old. Some companies like Coke-a-Cola dated the bottom for awhile. And they also used other types of markings depending on the plant the bottle was made in. U might find some gems there. My son works in landscaping and many times they go in and clean property. His solution to not putting aluminum in the dump is to throw the cans in plastic tubs of water. After a day or so he shakes them out then takes them for recycling. We recycle everything we possible can too. We think it’s the right thing to do.

I'm excited to see your progress, Doug and Ashley. Good to see Maverick the Super on the job site, lending a hand. To my recollection, your tall slender soda bottles are from mid to late sixties. Clean and stash them as you find them and when you get a crate full take them to a local vintage shop and trade them for something you can use for the build. Keep an eye out for any old enamel advertising signs. Many are worth some bucks, like hundreds, even more. The blue glass goblet would be a nice light feature, with a tea light candle or LED flame in it. Sweet little frog looked right at the camera. : )
