He really cares about his fans and I can't imagine how he finds the time to reply to so many so I don't feel bad when he misses me occasionally. Hope life has been kinder to you recently. All the best buddy. Edit. If I could offer some guidance it would be don't dwell on the past. You can't change it. You need to make positive changes to move forward. I wrote this poem the other day its called Bridges Bridges Sometimes I build bridges. Sometimes I cross over bridges that are already there. Sometimes I burn bridges. Sometimes I walk out onto a bridge and look over the edge and see the water running underneath and realize the water and the bridge and myself are all one thing. And sometimes I walk out on a bridge and start peeing over the edge watching my urine stream falling, until a hobo, living under the bridge says "Hey you're peeing on my head" and I say "sorry" And sometimes there are no bridges, no clear paths, no metaphors either, everything hurts, those times suck a lot. But like that giant, cancer causing, ball of fire in the sky defeats the darkness every morning I realize that I too must shine as bright a light as I can or just light some candles in the dark. You make the world a better a place for us all. Thank you Shawn!! Love you!!

I never lost a friend to suicide. But then I’m not really a magician. Back in the 80’ies I saw a magician performing in a shopping Center and selling the tricks that he performed, and he was very good. (His first name was Claus, and I don’t know his surname). One of his tricks (a deck where every card suddenly turned blank on both sides) got me flabbergasted like nothing else before or since. (I was surprised my eyes didn’t roll out of their sockets). I bought the trick (which I’m sure you know is super easy to do - based on the Svengali principle) and several others, and I chatted with him after everybody else had left. He might have been in his forties, and he looked like a disillusioned person who didn’t enjoy his place in the world. I’ve no idea whether he’s still around, but I’m thinking maybe magic is a nice hobby, but doing it professionally is probably often a very lonesome occupation, unless you’ve got other people to work with.

Fool Us had SO MANY great tricks and performers. Somehow I remember the most these: Eric Meads classic coins, cilinder and cork was performed flawlesly, and the little touch he changed and thing he introduced into the original routine put it on whole another level, because the clean vanishes really, and I mean REALLY give a lot to routine. Than your first performance, that trick, especially on the first sight is so damn fooling, so outrageously unpossible that ist just floors you. So bald, cocky, and so damn crazy ending it looks like something so damn out of the box no magician would ever think to go search for methods because that ending is just not possible, thats what Id do if I had real magical powers only lol. Than, altrough I hate quick changes, that girl just killed that and put it on another level with adding levitations and warrobe moving by itself anf flying on top of her. Than great John Archer and his envelopes, so fooling. And what really stands out also was Kostya Kmlat for the pure baldness of it. To go and so blatantly breach the rule of magic not to perform twice coz second time is tutorial, to go with a triumph routine, fully knowing they will recognize it and know what to look for BEFORE anythng dirty was done at all, so you need to pull it off under their noses, with them knowing the ending, AND no less on the show where the very goal is to fool them is so damn fearless. And, the sweetest thing is you are trying to fool them with the sleight EVERY SINGLE magician learns among first five with cards on top of that is just beyond anything. And than he floors them, not fools them. That performance is someting I pull a lot in talks about revealing magic, YT tutorials and fear many magicians have of this. If you can fool Teller with a damn cull IN THAT SETTING AND CONTEXT what are we even talking about? I am mostly fooled by crimps and stuff like that today.. A damn key cards. Just twist it, take apeek in inventive way and NO magician will even dare to think about key card principle. Twist add a little something, and be great at what you do and you can literally teach your audience a sleight and than floor them wth same exact thing minute later. Just showt them you are not using this again, and thats not hard right? ;D

lmao damn, I see we have similar taste Shawn, i wrote the above comment the moment that question came in video, now I see you too mentioned John Archer and his hillarious mine is bigger than yours routine and the young lady quick change act And just to cheer ppl up about this super hard topic, the suicide: I wonder if suicide is actually self defence? Dear Shawn, I know you are hurting, but just opening up to all of us is therapeutic for you and also for us. It's a brave thing to do. I enjoyed listening to you as always, but especially about your code of ethics for the way you treat people and especially the way you avoid making a participant the goat. I've had that experience and since then I've put on a stern face and an ** gesture so the magician does not select me. I paid to be entertained and if you want me to be on stage as a performer, I always feel as if my ticket should be refunded. As you have your own theater, I was wondering if you'd ever consider doing weekend seminars to teach magic. I especially would want to know how you use psychology and reading the audience to make the performance better. But maybe you could do different sort of seminars: 1) for absolute beginners 2) for hobbyists who love magic and appreciate the skill 3) for performers to enhance their skills and also some business tips. I signed up for the movie list. By the way, you might mention that if someone subscribes here on KZbin, they might also click the bell icon to make it black. This way they will be notified each time you post a new video. Simply subscribing doesn't accomplish that. And don't be afraid to briefly mention the various housekeeping or boilerplate announcements about Like, Subscribe, Bell icon, and show your social media each time. When you listen to radio interviews or sporting events, you will always hear the presenter "billboard ID" every few minutes or so because it's necessary to bring new people up to speed. When I feel it's safe to travel, Im making a special trip up to see your show and eat some fresh salmon. Stay Safe, Kenn//

Aren’t you Canadian, Shawn? Then what’s with this “point seven”? Is that the thickness in centimetres? (Hardly) The US really needs to give up those outdated inches and join modern civilisation - they’re about the only country left using them.
@collinsmcrae3 жыл бұрын
In situations where it really matters, we Americans do use the metric system. Everyone is taught the metric system in school. So, you could say, that most of us are fluent in both. Engineers and scientists primarily use the metric system. For most people, day to day, it really doesn’t matter, and that’s why the imperial system is still around. It’s hard to make a cultural level change when ordinary people just don’t care to, or have a real practical need to make said change.
@ShawnFarquhar3 жыл бұрын
Guilty... after the video I did it in Metric but my audience is predominately from the US.
