The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is the first Mazda with the new longitudinal-engine platform.
The big benefit of this setup is the support of a new range of electrified powertrains, one of them being the most powerful Mazda yet in the turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six with 340 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque combined with a 48-volt hybrid system.
There's another powerful option in the 2.5-liter inline-four plug-in-hybrid with 323 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.
It feels like Mazda is stepping up their game especially when it comes to their SUVs. Over the past decade they’ve tried to break into the luxury segment by improving the built quality and more specifically the quality of the interior layout and material.

The CX-60 isn’t coming to the states, it really doesn’t matter if it looks like the CX-90, you’re never going to see them in the same parking lot. I’d be much more worried if the CX-70 looks the same because that vehicle will also be here with the CX-90. The CX-9 and CX-5 share design language but there is no mistaking the two so let’s hope the CX-70 is distinct.

Mazda is small car manufacturer. Everyone talks about Toyota’s manufacturing method. If you look at Mazda’s manufacturing process, it is as or maybe more impressive. I suspect the design of the cx90 and cx60 coincides with the way they are going to be build. Lets give it to Mazda, its build quality is so good. The panel gap, the material quality, the paintwork, reliability etc etc, are just excellent. I would love for this car to do well and the brand in general.

as others have commented, the cx-90 is basically a three row cx-60 for the us market. the cx-70 is rumored to be a bigger, wider cx-60, but seeing how the cx-90 was debuted first, i have a feeling the cx-70 may be a little different, visually, than the cx-60.

The one thing I'm not 100% sure about in terms of the design of the CX-90 is that it looks a little too bulbous around the rear glass, but that could change once I start seeing the CX-90 out on the road. I pretty much like everything else about the design.

I think Mazda made some of the best car designs in the last 5 years with sporty but elegant desigs. Their new design language is still elegant but more boxy and it lacks the Mazda emotion. It doesn't look bad but it just isn't as good. The CX-90 though is disappointing. The CX-60 has some nice surfacing but the CX-90 has nothing emotional. The headlights don't feel integrated enough despite the housing, the D pillar is too wide and weirdly shaped, the bottom side windows trim cut weirdly in the D pillar and the sports car like proportion don't fit a big SUV like that. I hope Mazda will start to make beautiful emotional design again.

I’ve seen the reviews, everyone seems to agree with the headlight design, too similar to the CX60 almost recycled or to minimize costs, front doors, way too restraint and almost flat falling into boring territory, however it still looks great, to me, it’s like they took a chapter from Volvo, you know the lines, it looks like a Mazda, but a little clinical.

This is missing the taut lines of the CX-9, especially in the D-pillar, which made it look classier. Even the CX-50 especially from the front looks better than this. That notwithstanding, this is a welcome addition to the mid-size 3-row class. We'll see if that inline-6 punches above it weight.
