We were in GC last week. We've done all the tried and tested routes that you well know then one day we took the GC-604 from El Tablero. It's a rollercoaster that takes you to the GC60 near Ayacata with 12km of gravel. We did it on road bikes. A bit crazy but doable. Incredible views of the Soria valley from the opposite ridge of the usual road 😎

Happy holidays Katie. Enjoy the sunshine, the roads, the climbs and your time with friends. Gran Canaria is on my list of places to visit with the bike so I would like to know more about which routes you would recommend to ride, ranging from some shorter less challenging routes to longer ones with more elevation. I would also be interested to know what you do in terms of recovery to allow you ride, what we would regards as challenging routes, day in day out. Also, just enjoy being taken along for the journey.

Morning Katie, I'd love to see all of the climbs, views etc, I love it. Also, any tips for beginners who are starting out on their cycling journey and how you get from 'couch to Gran Canaria' climbs? I know that's a large topic, but it would be good to hear from you about how you've gotten to this level and tips for people starting/ training etc. Thank you, love your stuff and its so good to watch a fellow northerner.

What's it like hiring a bike out there. I'd love to go but I'd have to hire a bike out there (with young kids I'd be lucky to get one day or riding). There are never any videos of people getting bikes there as most people on KZbin seem to bring their own (understandably).

Katie, do a series on older men and women (65+) who have set themselves a cycling goal. Tell and show us what they are doing, their training etc to achieve their goal. The videos should be filled with emotion, their training plan, their indoor training setup, a regular ride they do with mates, the challenge they have set for themselves and why, their aches, pains and nutrition plan. For example, I ride the Snowy Classic (NSW) each year and the scenery is beautiful but I have to walk up a massive climb in the event called Col de Beloka. I am so tired by the time I get to the foot of the climb there is no way I could cycle up it. So this year I hired a cycling coach and have a training plan (TrainingPeaks) which I hope will help me become fit enough to arrive at the base of the climb fitter and with a chance of being able to ride some of the climb at least. I am tired from, but enjoy all the training I have been doing and determined to have a better ride this time. The event is in two weeks and I would love to hear about other older cyclists who have set themselves similar challenges. I think videos like this would attract older cyclists to view your channel.

David, there are plenty of over 65s riding long Audaxes every weekend. I'm 68, and in the last few years I've ridden Pnom Penh to Angkar Wat, San Francisco to LA (not the coastal route) and various others. No great training plan; just ride your bike!

Hello Katie, Since you are in GC and climbing to your heart's content ❤, I was hoping that a some point in the future you could, even if briefly, talk about your group set. Recently you posted a video about Q factor and how even small changes in Q Factor can affect ride quality. I also love the idea behind your GRX groupset and how it is so much better for avoiding grinding on hills. But the GRX groupsets have a bigger Q factor than Shimano's road groupsets (Tiagra, 105, Ultegra, Dura Ace, etc.). Did you notice the increase in Q Factor when you switched to GRX? Was it a problem? Or did you not notice a difference at all and the switch was pure deliciousness 😋 from Day 1? (I suspect you won't see this post as it is too late. In that case, hopefully your viewers won't mind if I post it again in another video.)
@KatieKookaburra
@KatieKookaburra 3 ай бұрын
Yes course. So I don’t actually think there is a difference in Q factor - if there is it’s negligible as I have t noticed at all. But what I have noticed… the ability to keep climbing! Way easier on the knees and quads and back :)
@MrLuigi-oi7gm
@MrLuigi-oi7gm 3 ай бұрын
@@KatieKookaburra So true about being easier knees, quads, and back! That's why I am considering swapping out my Ultegra cranks for GRX in preparation for riding the length of the BlueRidge Parkway+Skyline Drive in the Eastern USA. These are gorgeous scenic highways that are cycling dreamscapes. But they run almost entirety though mountainous terrain. 🥵🥵🥵 BTW, Shimano's traditional road cranks have a Q-factor of 146mm. GRX cranks increase that by 2.5mm on each side, bringing the Q-factor to 151mm. It's really helpful to know you could not feel that difference. Thank you so much for responding.
