I did a 7 day egg fast once, and loved it. Might just do that again. With the fried boiled eggs, once the butter melts, sprinkle in some parmesan cheese, then lay the eggs in it to fry. Delicious!!

New information just emerged regarding protein’s and ketones. Recommendations are shorten your eating window, pushing it more towards daylight without lowering your protein level to boost ketones. Please consider a two day challenge doing this.

The trip to the zoo made me cry remembering taking my daughter who is now 32 on trips to the zoo from a baby to a teen--such happy times. I only rarely ever get to see her now, but have lots of pictures & videos of those zoo trips. As a young man I also worked at my small city's zoo.

Love the pups doing their tricks for treats. When you said shake, they were both thrusting their paws at you like, 'Mine. Take my paw!' Very well trained doggies. Love seeing the kids as well. That blast from the past of Charity was so cute. Great video! ❤️🥰❤️

Fascinating. I'm in awe of the dedication to understand what your body responds to best at different stages. Not a fan of either "fasts" (shocking I still love eggs and sardines 😅). But, it has helped me figure out specific food triggers, benefits in retrospect. Applauding you throughout the process.

When I did my 5 day egg fast, I found that eggs - as such - became very off putting. But making recipes using eggs like spiced bread or noodles and alfredo sauce or crepes with cinnamon and allulose, I consumed the eggs and fat as per the rules but had a lot of texture and variety. Ketogenic Woman and I Breathe I'm Hungry recipes made all the difference for me.

I had 6 scrambled eggs in 1/2 stick of butter for breakfast today. I also had about a pound of ground beef for dinner tonight. No coffee today.

Hmm Again, thank you for taking one for the team. Thankfully this time you like eggs!😂 I really like that you and @Lindsay Murphy did this together. My lesson take away, actually reinforcement, is to listen to your body. Feeling like Lindsay? Do a full three days. Feeling weak on day three like you did? Time to break it. This challenge was fun!

This video is such a reminder of past days. (My kids are in their 40’s now.)😢 Definitely a challenge, being at the zoo with nursing babies/ toddlers. Much better when they are older. Tried egg fasting a few years ago. Ugh! Couldn’t look at an egg for about a month even though I love them. Will look into nutrisense. Unfortunately, cost has been a preventative regarding cgm up till now. Been saving up, though, so perhaps soon.

I used to do a monthly egg fast when I was deep into keto. I did it because all the cool kids were doing it 😂 It made me not love eggs for a long time. I am back to loving eggs! But now I think I may need to do a 5-day egg fast to kickstart my keto.

I found this to be true with the sardine fast that outside of doing the fast I found that I just didn't want to ever eat a can of sardines occasionally and I've lots of sardines stored away.

I fell off the keto wagon HARD after having surgery. I would do a few days keto and then fall off again due to either being easily tempted, unstable bs levels, increased hunger, and carb cravings. I just couldn't stay on plan very long. So I decided to do an egg fast to see if it would help. I'm on my last day, day 5, and it definitely has! I went with 5 days due to my ongoing issues and having a problem with staying keto lately (and I gained some weight in process). I am quite fatigued though. But all the issues I previously mentioned seem to be gone! I have no cravings and my monthly will probably be here tomorrow (which may be some of my fatigue, but the other is probably from change in diet). Since I'm really fatigued this evening and don't feel like cooking supper, I'll probably make a lazy egg salad using butter mayo, salt, pepper, and a little dried dill. I went over my cheese amount yesterday, so today I'm not eating any cheese. Normally I would pair some homemade cheese crisps with the egg salad. I actually eat that for lunch sometimes when I'm not doing an egg fast (but I make my egg salad with pickle and onion added in). I'm going to do 3 transition days starting tomorrow. I don't eat breakfast, but count my fatty coffee as my breakfast, then I'll eat an egg fast based meal for lunch, and a healthy keto supper like seasoned chicken cooked in a little avocado oil with buttered broccoli maybe sprinkled with a little parmesan depending upon if I had cheese for lunch or not (I'm also trying to slowly wean myself off dairy- it's a prob for me- I LOVE it so much, but it increases my inflammation and hinders my weight loss). I feel like this fast is exactly what I needed. I was feeling so discouraged and upset with myself prior, but now I feel like I can definitely do this (stay on plan without feeling deprived, while working on weaning off other problematic foods/ingredients). The hardest day was Day 1. To get through it, I just ate more eggs lol. The ratio of fat to protein will keep you from feeling hungry (except maybe the first day- just eat more) like other fasts. There are a good bit of egg fast recipes on YT to give it some variety so you stick with it (like egg drop soup, egg chalupas, etc.) One more tip- I wouldn't do much sweetener if you use it. I did a mini egg loaf the other day and I weighed the same the following morning. No loss. I lost some on all other days but that one. Oh, and make sure you salt everything to keep your electrolytes up. Good luck 🍀.

Took my kids to the zoo a few weeks ago too, for the first time in 3 years! They had a kids go free deal for the month because it was the zoo's birthday. So we finally managed to get there on the last day of the month. Had my 6 year old hanging behind trying to read literally every sign, and my 4 year old rushing off ahead to the next thing. Fortunately we were there with a couple other homeschool families so lots of older kids to help out with the younger ones.

I'm in my 4th week of doing a 72 hour fast each week, the 1st was a sardine fast. Next week will be my last before my yearly physical. I really want to reset my blood glucose levels and a1c for my blood work. I think that for me, too much protein resulted in the dawn effect & even after fasting for over 14 hours my morning level would be over 100, higher than it was before going to bed. So through gluconeogenesis that excess protein, which cannot be stored, was converted to glucose. On my fasts I've had morning glucose levels as low as 62, staying under 100 for the entire day. But we are all individuals.

I’ve lost weight with the sardine challenge and egg challenge. Once I stopped, the weight came back on and my ketones dropped. I’m starting my sardine challenge today starting at ketone of 0.3 this morning.

I used to think the Sardine fast was 100% about lower caloric intake with high fat low protein and that’s why it worked. However, after running the number, the sardine fast the way I do it is definitely low calorie and high fat but it still has 110 grams of protein. 1 serving of Season sardines plus 10 grams of avocado mayo = 22 grams of protein and 22 grams of fat. (Salt,pepper,mustard) Total serving calories 286 Total daily calories from sardines 1,430, plus an additional two cups of coffee with a tbsp of mct in each cup. I have eaten 5 servings to get 110 grams of protein with a 1:1 ratio every day for three days. During these fasts my ketones are the highest I ever get without exogenous ketones. They go higher and higher each day, topping out just over 2.7 with a blood sugar of 63. How do you think about that? What protein intake usually knocks you out of ketosis?

@@almaburns6562 I lost 80 lbs in 7 months (240 down to 160) when I do these fasts now I drop down to 155 but I absolutely hate weighing that little so I immediately increase my calories to encourage muscle growth. I have kept it all off for 6 months now. I do the fasts now for the ketosis, lower inflammation, autophagy, etc. as I am working through health concerns that brought me to this in the first place.

I do mix it up myself. I don't really measure but it's probably about 1 cup of allulose to 1-2 tbsp of cinnamon ☺️

I’ve watched you and Linsey on these fast, after one day on either one of them I’d be sick, I can’t eat the same thing everyday, I have to have change, I’ve lost 78 lbs doing the keto diet, it has taken me 4 1/2 years to get 78 lbs off, I’ve stayed with the keto diet, every body is different and I’ll admit I get discouraged at times but I keep pushing on because I do c results. Congratulations on your Sardine fast and egg fast. Got a question We’re did you get your cooker you cooked your steak in the other day? That looked so good and I can’t seem to get my steaks to turn out that tender. I watch you a lot along with Wendy and Linsey and joe and Rachel and a lot of other keto people on KZbin I like Victorias keto kitchen she has a lot of very good recipes also I’ve never had any luck in making that egg white protein bread, in my area it just doesn’t work for me, alway to wet when try to make it

With the sardine fast my ketones highest recording went to 1.7, lost 2.5 kg then regained it (water filling emptied fat cells I reckon) with one day off eating normal ketovore, now on egg fast and ketones the first night already at 2.6. I wake at 5am so don't eat until about 8am if I have breakfast at all. I'm not strict regards eating 1hr after waking, I'd throw up. Don't have mct powder which I will look into, or allulose (not available here yet, not approved by our TGA). My food intake was only 600 calories yesterday, skipped lunch, but did make a cheesecake bake just with eggs, cream cheese, a bit of Stevia erythritol and lemon, added a tablespoon of protein powder though, knew I wasn't getting enough. Plenty of that left for 2 more days. My goal would be to not only lose the weight but to keep the dang thing off. I'm down 8kg since start April and with the shaking up of these funny fast days lately I did drop another 2 but they fluctuate.

I’ve read that it’s pretty much impossible to eat too much protein, and that gluconeogenesis is demand driven. I just can’t remember the source, might have been Dr Cywes, who is a liver expert.

​@@cynthiagilbreth1352 Some people are very sensitive to get higher blood glucose when they eat too much protein. It tends to happen to people that are insulin resistant. Just check your blood glucose frequently to check its effect. That's why some people have to eat no more than 30 grams of protein per meal and have to do 4-5 meals a day instead of doing 1 or 2
