There is another option to choose on FNS NOTAM search. Use the drop down where it says location, and select flight path. You can type in your path. Then type in your route. It even gives you a cool map display. Great video, thank you, sir!

lets not kid ourselves, most pilots don't even look at the chart supplement on a typical flight. Why? they are flying local. they know the runway, freqs, etc. and looking again wont change that. I am NOT saying don't use it. My biggest complaint in flight training is that student pilots don't take advantage of the information in teh AFD more. They have no idea how much useful info and references are in there, that they can even potentially look up during a checkride. But when flying an airplane with a takeoff and landing distance of 600ft on a 10k ft runway with no obstacles....rechecking runway length is a bit excessive. but I get that's not what your video is about. If anyone is flying to a new place, they absolutely need to be checking the AFD. If they are planning fuel stops, they need to know if/when fuel is available, for example. Love your videos, this is not a critique of the video nor the content within.

Just a real small detail but the ICAO codes in Alaska usually start with PA, not just P. I suppose you knew that considering they aren't all PA and the rule of thumb is better to remember the universal P.

@@FreePilotTraining It means Pacific Alaska XX , similarly there is Pacific Hawaii XX, Pacific Guam PGxx, etc (for territories of the USA). The caribean uses Tyxx, with y indicating the island or group of islands (but it is often not based on the english name eg. Puerto Rico uses TJxx)

Am I missing something or is there no good, quick way in Foreflight to go from tapping on an airport to pulling up its entry in the Chart Supplement? As far as I know, you have to go to documents, figure out the region then search for the code. Seems like a link (maybe I'm missing it) from the airport info would be helpful. Speaking of "sounds cooler," the typographic name for that "plus plus" symbol is "double dagger", which only makes sense if you know about the typographic dagger symbol, so "plus plus" is much more descriptive."
@FreePilotTraining
@FreePilotTraining 10 ай бұрын
I don’t have Foreflight in front of me, but you can click on the airport, then click on procedure on the right. There should be a spot that is labeled AFD which is the old name for the chart supplement. Love the double dagger comment. Thanks!

I’ve been learning to fly at a club since 2020.. bad weather/CFI availability and cash on hand haven’t made it quick by anymeans, but your videos have been nice to listen to while at work. I did kings for the written but their format isn’t very friendly for putting on on the background with the tests after each video and some being as short as 3-5 minutes.
