As a Ham AND GMRS repeater owner, I'm happy you pointed out the facts of how little the FCC enforces Ham and GMRS frequencies. The fact is, a person has to REALLY be a major problem on the air waves to attract any attention from the FCC. Follow the money here, the FCC is far more interested in catching people who do "Pirate Radio" stations on FM and AM broadcast bands and bigger corporations that they can garner much bigger fines from. The FCC is NOT interested the average person making small mistakes.

He was absolutely convinced we were all going to get fined or jailed. I just laughed at his assertions. We don't use channels the local ham operators use, I'm not sure they actually use their radios either since we've yet to pick any of them up other than the space station broadcasting which can be interesting. So we aren't even close to being on their radar let alone messing with their ability to talk. We're pretty sure he was working with the feds anyway trying to see what our group was up to and he didn't get what he was hoping for in any capacity. Sad hams exist because they realize they spent all that time and money reading to pass some government test because they live in fear of the government and the rest of the country doesn't. Our local (happy) ham club just demonstrated a tracking system developed by a member that shows real time triangulation data overlayed on a map. It looks just like watching your DoorDash driver deliver your meal from the restaurant to you home on your smart phone. You can track individual transmitters on the same frequency from their slight oscillator deviation.

12 and mostly on the precious ham band. The FCC doesn't give a shit for part 95 (cb. murs, frs/gmrs) as long as it stays on the band. There's still sad hams out there crying how a 100 watt amp on CB is going to wind you up in jail.
