We (Jamaican Caves Organisation) use GMRS radios here in Jamaica for communicating from top to bottom of deep shafts (>100m). The wavelength is short enough that it bounces off the walls, even around corners, giving pretty good range. When we bought them, we just had to pay a fairly small amount for a permit. No mention of call signs, but as we've never heard anyone else on frequency on the surface, doesn't make much difference.

Thanks! Great video. I consider buying GMRS because as a HAM, I can talk to other HAMs, but GMRS allows me to give each family member a GMRS radio.

OMFG!!!! Who in the hell designed the FCC website? Thank you for your instructions to the correct page to toss $35 to the FCC. Hoping to use GMRS rather than the FRS radios I bought that have the range shorter then tin cans on a string. Thank you Randy. You are a GMRS guru.

Got my GMRS notification email. Now all I need to do if figure out the radios to get. Leaning toward the TID two pack, affiliate links will be used. 👍👍👍👍 Thank you for the inspiration Randy

Thank you! I bought this for work. The ones they provide have corded ear pieces and working in coolers and with food it gets caught on everything! This was perfect for work.

I guess. But $3.50 a year isn’t exactly riches. I don’t see a reason other than to just know who you are. Which is a different problem.

Ya... The money doesn't bother me. The FCC having more info about me definitely pisses me off

Just received my GMRS license in January. I'm also a general class amateur guy, but you and your videos encouraged me to get and use my GMRS license. Thanks. Please keep up the great videos.

Sir, I’m an amateur radio licensee, what you call a ‘HAM’. I’ve reached level 3 (Amateur Extra). I’m deeply disturbed by your…. Nah, some of your comments had me in stitches. I enjoy your videos. I enjoy radio, but also appreciate the simplicity of ‘just push this button, and fuggedaboudit.’ Keep the videos coming!

I applied for my GMRS License March 30th still have not gotten it. Was 70.00 a few days ago. Apparently they are having billing issues with their system so I'm being patient. I'm a new cool kid. I bought Midland 2 way for camping, in a week I will be buying the GMRS radio. Excited! Still studying for Technician license.

I am a Ham operator and found this hilarious and informative. I’ll be watching more of your videos.

Never write comments, but this is worth it. Thanks for the video, I chuckled lots and got good info out of it. Almost bought a HAM radio and got my license, but now I am happily joining the GMRS (s)c(h)ool kids. Keep this up and don't let those slobs crawling out of their moms' basements distract you from producing great content like this one.

First time coming across your channel! I'm not even halfway into the video and I already have a deep appreciation for your very subtle and dry humor. 😆

I want to say thanks, learned all i needed to know about GMRS in 2 of your videos (watching more too), relavent facts, plain language, no over-gesturing or bad free music. LOVE LOVE LOVE all the sarcasm and pinning that tool's comment above, it's Gold i tell ya! And yes, i felt duty bound to take the 127th shot at him, just felt right. Thanks again. You could add dancing girls, just sayin'.
