Hello Queen👸🏻. How are you doing? Great video. This is going to be a great series. I’ve always found the difference between setting and finishing powder to be a little confusing, as well. I was going to ask you for a buffing video, but then you ended up demonstrating it in your video. Thank you for doing that. Do you believe that I’ve never buffed my makeup? It’s more of a fear that I’m going to mess my makeup up and move everything around. Ok love, thanks for the video and it’s so refreshing seeing you again 🥰🤗.
@NotFitforPrintBeauty2 жыл бұрын
Hello Danielle! I can absolutely understand the worry that you have put so much time into your makeup and buffing it would just mess it all up! It really is all in the brush that you use. If it is too stiff or harsh of a synthetic brush then it certainly can mess things up. But if you have a nice soft, finally milled powder and a nice soft flat brush it can only make things better! Give it a try and let me know what you think, if you have a moment! Thank you so much for your lovely comment.

Good Morning Rebecca! 🤗 Such a good video for those that weren’t sure about the difference between the powders. The addition about the different brushes was great. I’ve been using Laura Mercier Translucent powder for a very very long time. I tried the Pat McGrath under eye powder last year and have been so impressed ever since. I use it on my chin and on my smile lines where foundation wants to creep and settle. I wish the price wasn’t so high. It is so finely milled and does such a good job. By Terry powder is also very good for those of us with dry skin. Love my Sonia G flat top for buffing. This brush is a must have. I see you got a comment from Wayne Goss! How exciting and Wonderful! Hi dear Rebecca, loved the video, thanks so much, love your makeup, wow so beautiful you look!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩Loved all the details and all the explanation. Well, i know all these steps/products/possibilities, but love a refresh and help from you, as i am not a makeup artist, just learned a lot here on KZbin!👍With my very sensitive skin i use more squirrel brushes in my routine, that is all i think. It depends how my skin feels that day. Rephr face brushes are lots of the times to rough for my quite sensitive skin, but love their eye brushes, Sonia G. face brushes i love, but Wayne Goss the Artist Set with the wooden handles, the squirrel set, addicted! Also his air brush!!! Further the Chikuhodo GSN nr. 1 for setting in a very light way with a very soft but translucent loose powder, most loved Koh Gen Do! For under my eyes Wayne's brushes only to set my little bit of concealer very lighthanded (51 years). I love the, what is it called, Koh Gen Do Maifansi sheer more for under my eyes, but also the PMG one i love love love, but only a little bit with one of of those brushes from Wayne, for me than, for everyone different of course! Finishing powder, i love the Sonia G Brushes but most of all, with my sensitive skin, the Chikuhodo Z1. Most loved finishing powder, Hourglass Ambient lighting palette nr. 1, or only their Dimlight. What i also love, especially in summer, is to use the Chantecaille blurring powder. But this is only me Rebecca, and it's so personal what you love and what type of skin you have. Those bl**dy Meteorites and i: never get friends, i hate the scent and i am to chaotic, they always fly in the bathroom somewhere else than on my face. Most loved setting spray when i feel strong enough with my skin to use: the CT White Tea of Bali setting spray, much more softer than the original, unfortunately discontinued.... When using, and not skipping blush and highlighter with my reddish undertones, i love Sonia's brushes but love most Wayne's squirrel brushes or the Chikuhodo Z8 (for my skin but also for the soft effect!). I know i maybe have a strange routine, but it works for me. I have in winter dry skin and in summer little normal to little dry skin. On my wishlist for compact setting powder: Victoria Beckham, addicted to her bronzer bricks!!! My most loved foundation, and does not have to be set, at least not on my face, the Chantecaille cushion foundation. First i thought wow how expensive, than: in love with the baby elephants, but also: when, not being a KZbinr having to much foundations open: they expire! With a cushion foundation it's i think less waist, taking a new cushion, for me than, i love using makeup but not every day. This is to long again, sorry. Gonna sleep, loved to see you again, love you being you, always so happy and full of energy, love that so much!!!! Sending you lots of love, have a great day!!!!😘😘😘😘

I love your story about the meteorites going all over the floor. When you mentioned, here in this comment that you have never gotten along with them, I immediately remembered that you had told me before that they fly all over the place in the bathroom. And I laughed along with you. I, too, I love those wooden handled brushes from Wayne Goss and squirrel hair is the most luxuriously wonderful experience against the skin. I can see that, for you, the rephr face brushes would not work. That makes total and complete sense. What an awesome idea!!!!! We could all benefit from revisiting (or visiting) the basics!!!! I am looking forward to future lessons. 🥰 I am not a powder person, but I truly loved this video. It actually made me realize that I DO wear a finishing layer sometimes and it really helps everything blend perfectly (aka no Neapolitan ice cream!!! 😂😅🍨). Now I am wondering how many times I left the house with Neapolitan ice cream on my face. 😂😁 I guarantee I did that hundreds of times. I never used a flat top brush, so that’s something new for me to try. I am always afraid a flat brush will be too harsh and disturb or ruin everything. Nothing to fear here!!! 😃 One question I have always had is about blush placement. It sounds basic, but it feels complicated to me. Blush can essentially be placed anywhere in half of the face if you think about it. Yes, it will depend on face shape, which makes it tricky. BUT it would be a fun video and something I have yet to learn!!! 😁🥰🥰🥰💖

I love the idea of a brush placement video. Makeup artists that I have interviewed always say that the most product is where the brush touches first. And there’s no blending that away. I’m finishing up the CT powder as a sort of extra coverage around my nose though the fair is too light and medium is too dark so I’ll need to find a replacement product. I’ve seen some use the PMG under eye powder similarly but am not sure about the shades there either. 🤷🏻♀️

Hello Anne! Yes. I agree. If a finishing powder gets too radiant then it can feel like a disco. Not good. The Rare powder is a nice one. And baby still love the new Chanel. I also am very pleased with the Rodial loose powder, if you’re familiar?
@anneviscardi2 жыл бұрын
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty ha true. Yep i just wrote on another comment i probably would have tried the rare one if the light one wasn’t pink, I’d prefer a slight cream/yellow tone. I heard the fiasco about the Chanel powder but didn’t follow it too closely, i only remember more about the inclusion of coconut in the cream bronzer reformulation. The powder though reminds me of when la mer changed their powder and the size dropped dramatically but the price went up and all of Yt lost it lol. I haven’t tried rodial though, will take a look at both ☺️

Great video as always Rebecca. What do you recommend to stop mascara from smudging under the eyes? Lately this keeps happening to me by mid morning, very annoying and ambarassing!
@NotFitforPrintBeauty2 жыл бұрын
Hello Carole! Ah, yes, the dreaded panda bear by noon look!! The best way to avoid that is to use a tubing mascara for under the eyes even if you use another up top. Good tubing mascaras include Mac Giggablack, Victoria Beckham Future Lash, Caliray or Hourglass Unlocked. Those fibers wrap around the lash and resist smudging plus come off easily and that usually stops the process of the mascara bleeding due to any oiliness, etc. Let me know if you try it and if it works!!

Great video. You know it would make more sense to be to call it a “setting powder” and a “buffing powder” but you know that would lead to more confusion I suppose lol u know I am a powder fanatic! Lol. Oily skin girl - lives by power and dies by powder lol

Oh exactly! Those with oily skin can definitely write a book on powder in all of its forms, loose and pressed. And not only would changing the name still confuse people, then we would have Charlotte calling a setting powder a buffing powder and everybody would lose their minds again. Hollywood flawless buff or something as a setting powder and the confusion would continue!!

Hello Erica! I have the medium shade. I love them all. I don’t find there’s too too much of a difference or, when there is, it is very subtle. They are all quite beautiful. But I do think the medium is the best pre-match all around shade for light to light medium skin tones. 😊

@@thecrystallibrarian I love the Sonia G flat top brushes for meteorites powder. For travel, I end up just using a Charlotte Tilbury travel brush set which aren’t the best but they travel really nicely in the case or I end up using one of the brush rolls that I got from Sonia‘s collection and then I can take my good ones with me and they are protected. 😍

Hi Rebecca when should I use hour glass loose powder? Great video x
@NotFitforPrintBeauty2 жыл бұрын
Hello Alison! You'll be happy to know there are not hard, fast rules. Basically, look at it spread on your hand. Is it very matte? If so, a GREAT product for under the eye, the t zone, etc., right after foundation and concealer with a fluffy brush. If it's got a bit of luminosity in your opinion, it can still be used to set but ALSO would be a lovely finishing powder with a nice, dense flat top brush, buffed in in circular motions over makeup just to give that nice, polished, air brushed look. ❤️
@alisondietz52342 жыл бұрын
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty thanks so much wasn’t sure if I was using it right. I use it once I have done my foundation and concealer. And use the hour glass one you showed in your video. After all make up iis finished.

@@alisondietz5234 not so much even the wrong brush as it is a different technique for each brush. I just like the nice fluffy brush to set the foundation, like you said, and then the denser brush for buffing. A fluffy brush and buffing just don’t go well together, I don’t think! 🥰

Thanks for such a helpful video!!! Would hourglass powder be considered a finishing powder? I typically apply my setting powder by pressing it in sometimes with a puff (think Laura Mercier) or a brush that is thick enough to press in instead of fluffy. What a great idea and look more from this series!😘
@NotFitforPrintBeauty2 жыл бұрын
Hello Tracie!!! To me, and I realize this confuses matters, it’s more about the time that you’re applying it and the brush you were using that makes it turn from setting to finishing. And, for me, I like a bit of a reflective quality in my finishing powder but I like to keep my setting powder more matte. For instance, the hourglass infinity, for a lot of people, is a setting powder just over foundation and concealer. But it has a bit of sparkle to it so, for me, I like to use it as a finishing powder after everything is over. So, again, more the time and where you use it and the type of brush. Are you sweeping it on after concealer or are you buffing or patting it in after all the make up is finished. There’s no actual rules. More just rules of thumb! 😍
@traciewarren10702 жыл бұрын
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty Agree! I use my Laura Mercier setting powder then a finishing powder. I have the hourglass as well as a Becca loose powder I use as a finishing g powder.

Thanks for such a great video. I’ve been confused for awhile. Question. I’ve been using the BK BEAUTY 104 for a finishing brush. It’s big and fluffy. Would it be better as a setting brush? I also have the 107 that is more dense. So light for setting, dense for finishing? Trying to work with my existing brushes. Thanks for your time.
@NotFitforPrintBeauty2 жыл бұрын
Hello there! So I like the nice fluffy brushes just for kind of setting that foundation and concealer down before I do the rest of my make up just a little something that applies a nice little light layer on the T zone or wherever you think your foundation will crease. For a finishing powder, after everything else is applied, a nice dense brush is great for buffing in a reflective powder. That can be a dense kabuki style flat brush or any sort of dense brush of your choice. So, from your comment, I believe you are exactly correct that fluffy brush for setting and the denser for buffing and in circular motions. 😊
