Radios existed so they could have comunicated surrender in 2 days (and you seem to forget that they were constantly offered peace by the allies throughout the whole war, including the periods post german surrender and post first bomb). And saying that weapons of mass destruction were unnecesary is like saying "War? Being willing to sacrifice civilians to fight an unwinnable war? Imperialism? Really not needed"
