I hadn't realized the boiling point was the new normal temperature for higher-end CPUs under load. I'd think about refrigerated cooling.
@matzetech
@matzetech Жыл бұрын
The problem is even refrigerated cooling won't help because the conductivity of the heatspreader of the core i9-13900K(S) are not good enough to transfer the heat away before the CPU reaches 100°C. You would have to direct die cool this CPU. Moral of the story: get AMD CPUs, especially their 7 7800X3D if you have the money

I had the first generation MSI cooler, and an AMD Ryzen 5 3600. I never noticed if it ran hot since it has low TDP. When I installed an AMD 5950X, I noticed it overheated. @@Noooo23523 my 13700k is not OCed, it's stock. This means it supposed to run at max 250W, which it sometimes exceeds and goes to 270-ish. Anyway, i got two of the 420 radiators, i think they are about 4,5cm thick or so. This means also there are 6 x 140 fans mounted on there. The max 60*C water that comes in, goes out at about 30~35*C....well depends on room temperature. On idle and room temp at 22*C , the CPU will stay close to 28~30*C, the warmer the room temperature the bigger that difference will be, and so at 28*C room it would be some 40*C on the CPU. Only the CPU get's water cooling - both radiators for the CPU only. Putting that aside, as i said, the size of the die makes it impossible to keep it under 85*C @250W with water cooling, bcoz you would have to go way below room temperature. BTW who claimed a single 360 is equivalent to 400W? that is BS, 360 is good for 150W and not more than that. If you want to keep on cool temps, you need to take half off the power rating the manufacturer claims it to be. And so 13900 would have to get like twice MORA3 or the MORA3 420 to keep it under 100*C....or even better, a car radiator lol

Same shit with my new 14700k. After i installed it and launched few benchmarks temperature jumped from 37 to 95-99 in half second. Only one way i found to drop temperature to 65-70 is decrease cores boost ratios from 55/56 to 45 and decrease turbo boost from 253 to 110 watts. Air cooling, liquid cooling, cryogenic cooling is absolutely useless for that CPU and all 14th generation from fkn Intel.

And a shit ton more fans, you can use the thermaltake core p8, it can hold 18 fans, and it’s open case, so add another, really big fan, in front of it, and use clear shampoo instead of thermal paste, it works way better

honestly, MSI is really good with their support it actually surprised me. Personally I do NOT use any MSI products in my PC. however, I built my best friends PC and the motherboard was messed up and MSI responded and replaced it without any trouble. I will say that I was annoyed at first that I had to create an MSI account just to contact them

I've seen people having really bizarre (in a good way) results from lowering voltage a bit ... or in some cases kind of a lot... I dunno much about it, but the temps they've gotten without noticeable performance reduction is actually a bit hard to believe without trying... maybe I will.
