Nothing Ear (2)… BEFORE you buy!

How well do the Nothing Ear (2) work with iPhone? How good is the Nothing Ear (2) call quality? Are they as goof as AirPods? In this video I’m going give you my first impressions and a quick review of the new Nothing Ear (2)! I'm going to take you through the unboxing, the design, the key features and I’m also going to give you my thoughts on whether these are worth getting.
BUT... I also wanted to show you guys something that I don’t think anyone else is talking about, which is odd, specifically related to Apple's Airpods Pros as well as looking at some of the other best wireless buds out there, so make sure you stick around until the end for that.

I own neither buds, was planning to buy Nothing, but it is so annoying when people say "These are amazing buds but they are not as good as Airpod pro 2". As a product designer using plastics in my designs, you have to choose between ”scratchproof” and ”crackproof”: either the plastic is prone to scratches or it’ll crack if you drop it. So it makes sense that the case scratches easily, but survives being dropped.

Engineer here. I've shipped a lot of products, and worked with a lot of UX designers over the decades. There are pros/cons to the design, a classic form vs. function issue, and that is the clear case. Looks great....at first. In short order the case, which is designed for travel, will get scratched up and the beauty will fade quickly. Marketing people love this though, because then they can sell protective covers and/or license the design rights for protective covers to 3P companies.

I love the way your video is made. I'm watching this after I've already ordered the Ear (2) but I loved the fact that you do a proper benchmark unlike the other youtubers who straight up compare it with the airpods. It's like comparing a Hyundai with a Rolls Royce and saying why the Hyundai sucks. Someone who's in the market for Hyundai would like to see it compared to products in the similar price band and at that price point, Nothing feels like a no-brainer

the intro had my jaw on the floor, definitely one of the most satisfying intros I've seen, and thus, i have no choice but to subscribe. love the in-depth and honest review of nothing ear (2), it's refreshing to hear someone else say that one shouldn't compare ear (2) to airpods pro, Samsung buds pro or any other premium earbuds above the $200 margin. I do want to recommend trying the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, as they easily become my second favorite wireless earbuds to use, only behind the Status Between 3ANC. Hey mate, great review. i noticed this was posted in May. Can I ask if you did the firmware update which was release 18.04.23 or did you purchase these with the new firmware? Apparently there is a huge difference and a lot of the connectivity bugs were fixed.

They deal better, don’t move much when power walking unlike the AirPods. I’m pleased with my purchase. I generally use them for work and power walking(listening to music) and use my AirPods for everything else.

Better sound quality (subjective) If they had the same ease of transition and use with IOS devices as the airpod pro I would choose them first every time. That said battery life is not as good. Outdoor quality is good. I prefer to use them while power walking vs AirPod pro 1’s

If these are just a tad better than the Ear 1's, they should be worth it. I still love my Ear 1's in white & black. I wear mine while out in extreme heat, rain & saltwater while fishing & they block out other boat motors when they pass me while I'm in my Kayak! Sometimes they scare me because I don't hear them, I started running transparency mode. It does seem like the battery life drops over time. They last about an hour less than when brand new.

tbh in case of waterproofness IP 54 and IP x4 is same, because first number always means ingress protection against foreign objects, and the second means protection against humidity.

An audio engineer did a review on this compared to all of the top buds out there and this scored the best in call quality. The only thing you wouldn't buy these for, that you can find elsewhere that is better, are the noise canceling, audio quality and possibly comfort and battery life. Other than that, if you are finding yourself making calls on the go for your business, these are it.

Even though I understand what you’re trying to say, I can’t help but laugh a little when I read what you wrote. You basically said was “these aren’t very good in terms of sound quality, comfort, and noise cancellation” which are literally the 3 most important aspects of wireless earbuds…but according to you the call quality is on point which seems to be the most important aspect TO YOU. For me personally the ANC, Battery life and Sound Quality are ALL WAY WAY WAY more important!!

just looking for some buds for around 100 quid...the downsides on gliching and not connecting were these before or after the firmware release?? Im possibly going with these over the beats and the sennheiser. There only for occational use on public transport or watching stuff in bed and my prevoius pair were a 20 pound amazon special so im hoping the difference will be day and night anyway. Damn, I was about to buy a pair myself….right up until you said you only get 4hrs with ANC on. I’m the kind of person who wears his earbuds ALL DAY EVERY DAY! Mine got so scratched after just one month, i bough a case for them, and now the hinge is kind of broken (feel very loose) because of the case put stress on the hinge and it didn't open properly, just don't buy a silicone case like i did. Also some dirt got literally stuck inside the case of the Nothing Ear 2, and there's no way to take it out, everything that i would try would scratch the case even more.

I have them and tbh, besides call quality I prefer my Cambridge Audio Melomania 1+ with foam tips, the case is way nicer and smaller, the battery is over twice as long without putting in the case, audio quality is similar, they don't have active noise cancellation but with foam tips it's the same noise reduction than the active with rubber tips, and I got them for £50 on sale.... I hate the case on the Ear (2), it's big, likely to break as has a stupid design where the hinge is under stress and you have to press a button on the case to sync (wtf is that about). Overall good product but they really should make a better case, provide with foam tips and improve battery life.

Also some of the app's out there are just miserable -- no good hw no good Sw take the $$ and run ... loved your venn diagram made a clip out of it !!! 0n paper sony link bud's seem the best but so .... many choices out there that you don't consider tozo earfun etc...

Nothing is going to have to get as close to a 1:1 feature and performance wise to airpods to become a real player in this space. The problem is that Apple dominates this market so much that the Airpod replica market has more of a foot-hole marketshare than the majority of Apple's main competitors in this space.

In my experience,, out of 14 premium earbuds i have, nothing earbuds 2 is the best in term of call quality it never disappoint during calls or virtual meetings. But it has terrible battery life unfortunately
