Two vocabulary words to describe my review of the newly released Netflix series.

Regression is absolutely corret. If viewers can recall the last episode of the original series: JJ began selling his artwork and was able to sign for a nice bachelor pad, Keith's knee healed and he moved both a pregnant Thelma and Florida into a mansion, and Michael moved on campus at his college. Technically, they had already made it out. It made absolutely no sense to take them back!
@BlackLuv173 ай бұрын
Exactly... that Dead white man was just trying to smear the names of Eric Monte and Mike Evans from the grave!!! It was said that Jimmy JJ Walker a while ago wanted to recreate good times via an animated series and I guess that THIEF stole thst idea as well but turned it into garbage just because he could.

I learned the meaning of the words umbrage and ignominy. This is an embarrassment and all I’ve seen were the pictures and let KZbinrs tell me about it. I’ll be back for the word of the day. We have enough regressive shows on television as it is. The original GOOD TIMES show was about showing how black folks might be in the ghetto, but not of the ghetto.

The show is an abomination and an affront. The first and main difference I noticed when I watched it (for ten minutes before I disliked it and turned it off) was that the original Evans family lived in the projects, while this iteration (how’s that for a word, Aunty Bev? 😏) of the Evans family has a project/ghetto mentality. The drug dealing baby trope is from a bit stolen from Dave Chappelle’s ‘Killing ‘Em Softly’ Special, which, by the way, was told with a completely different tone and in a completely different context.

It has occurred to me that the intended audience is NOT Black people. If that is true, then we must ask , “who is the intended audience?”
@matxalenc84103 ай бұрын
I've noticed that a very long time ago - especially with our music.
@Thisisjustname3 ай бұрын
The reason why i think the audience isnt black people, is because you would never see a similar show about Asian people, Jewish people, the various Muslims communities, or even Hispanic people with such negative stereotypes. And the vast majority of the most popular entertain created by black people is sold to white people.
@BlackLuv173 ай бұрын
I saw in some comment sections that they are having this go international so they're trying to let people in other countries think this is how the black community is.. That dead white man did this on purpose because Eric Monte told the world that he is racist a liar and a THIEF.

Bev, family morals were much better in the 1930 & 40's unless you are talking about the gangster influence that this early period holds in popular culture. Glad to see more people creating their own channels and representing the good values most want to see. It's something hollywood left behind a long time ago.

They needed Steph Curry ( chile, he bright skinned) or any type of black-ish person to even do this. Seth MacFarlane is known for this new agenda of 'aging' children. Notice, the babies ( this child and Stewie -Family Guy) always do mature things and talk with an adult voice. It's the subliminal agendas for me.

I have watched it and before I saw the reviews the first episode had me scratching my head. A 2 year old drug dealer. The showrunner is a Black woman. She deleted her instagram I believe. The Credits on IMDB are mixing the original creators, creators that signed on but left for creative differences, with the new writers to confuse the audience. Good times was a family that most of us didn't have. They lived morally and stuck together to figure things out. The whole point of the show to me was, just cause they lived in the Ghetto, doesn't mean they had to act that way. I learned a lot from the problem solving. I saw all i needed from the trailer. Stephen never grew up in the ghetto. He doesn't understand how most families live in the ghetto. It's the small groups that ruin it for everyone. The ghetto/hood doesn't have to be violent, or trashy. Good times, was about having good times. That show is an abomination to the purpose of Good Tmes. James, and Florida was hard working parents, and they wanted there kids to be the same. That show will never be replaced, but some people will only hear about that evil show on Netflix.

I’m not gonna watch it since EVERYONE I see is bashing the show, I don’t engage in lowlife stuff. And yes, Norman Lear STOLE the idea for the original show from Eric Monte: who wrote and directed the movie Cooley High, that’s why it’s set in the Cabrini Green projects in Chicago (where Monte grew up) and Lear also stole the Jefferson’s from Monte as well along with the co- creator Michael Evans (“Lionel” from the show…and the name of the Good Times character) But yeah, thanks for this video. I’m not watching the show.

The show was a mess!!! I just spent the greater part of two days apologizing to myself for wasting time I won’t get back. The fact that a black woman is the showrunner is nauseating. Steph Curry can’t relate and is completely detached. I have no reason why he would tap into this. He doesn’t need money or clout so idk. His entire family are examples of all skin folk ain’t kin folk. I’m(or was) a HUGE Seth fan however my eyes went on a sideways cruise and hasn’t returned from vacation when I saw him put his name on this …..as for Norman Lear….history repeats itself. Just saying. Mad respect for how he put black people on back in the day but he didn’t just let us bake in his bakery, he took the cakes and devoured them too leaving nothing but crumbs.

Why won't the producers address which child ended up with a son back in the ghetto AFTER the whole Evans family FINALLY got out of the ghetto on the final episode of the original Good Times show. @BrightAmbition3 ай бұрын
Stephen Curry is showing his white side with this mess, wtf. The jokes just seem out of place. Also Seth MacFarlane is a huge MAGA Republican racist is why the jokes became weird on this show. I saw a Family Guy episode that gave me nightmares about a squirrel and I usually like Family Guy but the new comedies aren't even funny they are stupid and the story half of the time is all over the place and just has fillers and one line zingers left. Most comedy is just either dry lately or wanting to be so controversial that it takes away from the jokes it just becomes attention seeking or boring.

Seth McFarlane gives to the Democratic Party. And that's the same party that holds low values for Black people. The party supports single parent families, living off the government, and fighting against those who are paid to protect us. Their solution to all of our social problems is "more money, more programs" - as if Black culture doesn't need strong community and family relationships (in other words, kids need parents not programs). So, this show fits in line with his Democratic values.

Extremes were used to make the truths they were sharing digestible, in my opinion. Westernized culture loves to emblish a story. There was a method to the bufoonery. This Good Times represents now. Young boys at this day and age the girls'age, have seen a lot of women naked this is not the first show where a teenager saw their parent naked. We've seen black people leave poverty on TV. That's been happening since The Jefferson's moved on up to the East Side. The Evens wouldn't be the Evens if they ever left the Projects . There are families that never leave the project physically or mentally. The Evens are not representing Black excellence.. The truth is that while they had aspirations , they were not willing to break laws or go against a faith that was never designed with them in mind . So they remained in struggle.This makes absolute since. The Evens tom foolery in both the old and new are examples of surviving, endurance, and resilience, and while navigating the modern-day wild .
