Such a powerful depiction of not only alcoholism, but substance abuse as a whole, showing not only why people fall into it, but what it gives AND takes away. A true double edged sword. First time I saw Dan play was a bar in Shreveport in 06(ish). My band opened, then NM, then local headliners. Dan is from another world, and this is coming from another bass player. He has his own distinct sound. Not many bass players can say that. The whole band is amazing, but Dan is beyond next level.

When I first heard this a month ago, I had a thought I've never had before. "Spirits" is the last track on the album and it sounds like it. It has an epic, transcendent feel that is perfect to close out an album. And that's how I wish I had first heard "Spirits," as the close to the album of the same name. Even without that full context, it might be my favorite Nothing More song. I'll decide if I'm still around in three months to hear the album.
