I'm a Lions fan, so obviously I've got some bias, but if I was Ben Johnson, why in the hell would I leave? You could A) stay at a team with all sorts of toys to play with and a head coach that allows you to do your thing, or B) go to a team that sucks, with no toys, and try and figure it out. Maybe you'll look great if you can put it all together, or maybe you go 4-13 and now everybody is ragging on you because you couldn't turn mud into gold because now you aren't just in charge of the offense, you're in charge of everything. I'm just saying, he's got a great thing where he's at, and head coaching jobs will always come, but why rock the boat when you could ride it to win after win?

I agree Steve. Ben Johnson needs to stay in Detroit. where are you going to have a better situation than this. You have a lot of fire power on your disposal. Head Coaching is hard work and frankly overrated on day to day basis not everyone wants it. Not to mention Bread Holmes and Dan Campbell will give you more toys to play with next year. How cool is that. You can go to multiple Super Bowls in your life time and be the greatest coach of all times. Because if you take the lions to Super Bowl and win it you will go down as THE GREATEST COACH TO EVER DO IT. It’s never been done before. Let alone if you get multiple Super Bowls they will make a statue of you and put in the Front of Canton Ohio building.

Note to Sheila Ford Hamp: Keep rewarding Ben Johnson with well-earned and well-deserved raises to keep the guy here. It's true that head coaching jobs are more lucrative, but with those positions come higher expectations and shorter room for error. The Lions were built the proper way, through the draft and good coaching. There aren't too many teams who possess the patience needed to do what the Lions have done. NFL teams tend to fire coaches way too early. It's not worth the risk.
