As a teenager I had a Scorpion Whip sled. That thing could fly. During high school in Wisconsin, the cool thing to do was ride your sled to school instead of riding the bus. There was quite a lineup of machines lined up in front of school. Then all day you'd smell like two cycle exhaust and you'd have helmet head - but it was worth it.

Being born and raised in Minnesota, I can attest to riding a vintage snowmobile on a nice (20-30deg) day. Riding was one of the best ways to combat the winter doldrums. We had a John Deere JDX-4 with a 292 twin cylinder. Heavy and narrow machine with bogey wheels. After the hour long start process, we could ride all day until it got stuck in a fence line drift and had to walk back for help. Miss those days, thanks for the video, it's fun to reminisce of days past from sunny Florida!🤣🤣

If you did have a single cylinder 292, in my case it was a Hirth / Moto-ski, it was a sound like no other.

In my high school years went to work for him got to use all that stuff. Worked for him 3yrs (GOOD DAY) now in Tenn. The wide tracks look great can't wait to see the cab on it. Hope it doesn't stay in storage container Thanks for the memories And videos

Hard to believe that Artic Cat used to be a top of the line machine once upon a time. Definitely an antique now. Seens to be in darn good shape. Especially that original seat. I haven't rode a sled since the 70's up in Michigan where I'm originally from.

I had a neighbor friend when I was a teen back in the 1980's that had an Arctic Cat. (I think that's what it was. Long time ago.) It wasn't a super powerful machine and I think it dated from the late 1970's. It was a fun little machine. We would put on our helmets, then one would drive and the other would ride a water boogie board pulled by rope. Unfortunately, that last good winter we had in eastern Washington in 1992 finished the fiberglass front cowl off. He was driving along a county access road in the hills by himself. He came through what normally was a cut along the road on top of a hill but was totally drifted in. There was an open hole on top of the drift and he didn't see it until he was on it. He dropped about 8 or 10 feet into the hole and drove both knees right into the cowl. The next time I saw the snowmobile, the cowl was all taped up and barely holding on and he was limping pretty good.

Aww that brings back memories.. I did a lot of work for snowmachines and snowmachine racing here in Alaska. Polaris Factory team early 70's. My brother was the racer, I was the pit mechanic and general gopher.. We all knew each other Scorpion, Skidoo Rupp. Attic Cat ... I walked tall with some heavy-duty mechanics of the day and I was 13-14 years old. Polaris factory engineers came up from outside to my garage to see how we got about a third more torque to the track. Chris Pylan and I showed them 🤔 DUH you'll never guess what they did to the driven clutch on the next series of racers??? Yup took our idea....

Sr. may not walk as fast as he once did but the passing years have not affected that right thumb and we’re tickled to see that. You have a great place to rip and tear. Here in the middle of Pennsylvania, ownership of these machines has dropped off since I was a youngster. We don’t seem to get snowy winters as much and some years the sled didn’t get out of the barn in the whole season. I still have friends who trailer them up to New York and ride trails but it used to be nice to just go for a rip around your own homestead. Anyway, huge respect for Sr. Getting older is inevitable but growing up is optional. 🥸⛄️👀👍✅

Nice old Cat. I have primarily skidoos so the Rotax is a nice touch. I don't normally tell anyone their business, but it sounds a little bit too rich to my ear. the mixture hit right at the 3:40 mark for about a second lol. If he weighted the primary a tick heavier it would stay down a hair more on the top end if its set rich to prevent over-revving. I'm sure you guys know all that already and its just cool to see someone playing with one of these old sleds. Enjoy the snow. here in michigan you can still see grass in the northern lower peninsula.

I wish I will be that fit like Senior when I'm in his age! 👍 That Rotax seems to run great, although I would prefer some heavier weights in the CVT's primary, if it's built like that, gives more punch from the mid range and keeps the screaming revs away... Great machine, thx for showing! 👍👍👍
