So Kiyo’s character aesthetic was based on classic Japanese horror from the Showa period, which inspired the works of Junji Ito & Suehiro Maruo etc. The music, visuals and paranormal theme of ch.3 also reflects this. Kodaka actually planned a lot more 'creepy' moments for Kiyo, but the staff had to tell him to tone it down 😅

People laugh at Tenko's murder because of how complicated it is, how unnecessary it is with Angie's case being a perfect unsolvable mystery, because of the whole "seesaw" thing, but when you think about it, it's actually kind of creepy. Our main character, Shuichi, along with Himiko and Kokichi actively help Korekiyo in putting together a death trap for Tenko, while having zero idea what they're actually doing. Also the murder happening in the same room they're in, right in front of them, but them being oblivious to it because of the darkness... That's some dark stuff, no pun intended.

I'm watching this series with no knowledge of what will happen, and I gotta say, I'm disappointed that Angie didn't fake her death, kill Tenko, and try to frame Himiko for it in an effort to escape the game. I think it would have added a lot to the cult leader thing she's got going on. I was actually really surprised that that wasn't how it played out. (Granted, I multitask while I listen, so there are certainly details that easily contradicted this theory early on that I just missed.)

I'm so disappointed that Kiyo was also Angie's killer. I was really interested in future dynamics, where Kiyo got away with Tenko's murder, but wasn't outed as the case's Blackened, and the rest of them just have to deal with the fact that they're living with someone who's more than willing to kill them, given the opportunity. Man, I hate that.

Kiyo couldn't just leave the room because he needed the door to be locked from the inside so that he could try to frame the student council for the murder. As for the string, if it WERE possible, I presume Kokichi would've brought it up a long time ago. It's possible it just didn't work for that door for one reason or another. But yeah overall, I'm pretty proud of Arin on this one. I was impressed by how well he did in all the minigames. It was a little frustrating at times, but he did really well and kept it together for most of it, and there was LOADS of good jokes and stuff from the both of them. These kinds of episodes are why I love their DR playthroughs so much~

I am confused with the spinning effigy trick. Once the rope got uncoiled, it continues spinning the other direction until it stops and then turns back around, unlocking the door. I guess the killer got lucky that its final turn was in the direction that locked the door. There is no other way to explain why the effigy was in the state it was as if it was never spun by the time the body was found.
