I like how you were upfront with the sponsored ad at the end of the video, it made me listen. 5/5 ⭐️ Unlike other streamers who sneak it in during the middle of a video, disturbing the entire viewing experience. 1/5 ⭐️

Honestly the issue is not people not picking up Potions in a fight. As you said it's kinda easy to just throw them on them. The problem is - and especially was in Deckards first days - that people didn't know what he was doing and didn't understand the potions were heals, especially in QM or low ranks. They kept running around with low hp, passing 5 potions on their way and then yelling at Deckards for not healing them. Like they couldnt even be bothered to read a new heroes description. It was the same when Alexstraza came out and nobody went into the healing circles.

Deckard is very versatile for a melee healer. There's at least 2 good talents for each lvl. My main mistake on him is to go Deckard "Cane" on them before realising I'm outnumbered vs cc adversaries.

Interesting thing to note, level 7 talent that gives you CDR on E works better if you first E, then W.

People don't use ALT in general, and it is very important for a lot of situations and for a lot of heroes. I like to cast AoE slows or stuns on myself when I'm running to safety , in Deckard's case, casting your Cube or Scroll with Alt while trying to escape is very beneficial, will put those directly bellow you, so your pursuers will either be effected by them or would need to change direction, each of those will help you to escape.
@Onshki
@Onshki 6 жыл бұрын
sawovsky simply put, reaching for alt and the top row of buttons is uncomfortable and hurts my hand. It's the main reason I don't do it. Also ctrl and the numbers when selecting talents is difficult too.
@djS0nics
@djS0nics 6 жыл бұрын
Onshki I always accidentally shifted my hand to the homebar (asdf), so I rebound keys to these. It's a lot more comfortable for me now to alt+ability. Plus: I have a lot of individual hotkey profiles for several heroes, where I made Q my 'oh shit' button. Usually Q is quick cast some sort of self protection (shield/ healing/ sometimes root with aoe).
@Onshki
@Onshki 6 жыл бұрын
DJ-Sonic's keybinds specific to each character is a lot of work to setup and even more to remember. I'm thinking about just switching the self cast key off of alt. Seems to be the simplest fix. I haven't explored the games current keybinds too much. Just enough to cast abilities, point, spray, and taunt. Also spam Zul'jin's laugh.
@djS0nics
@djS0nics 6 жыл бұрын
Onshki right, it takes some time. But I think it's worth it. :) For many heroes you can rebind the D-key as they have no active trait.

Glad that you made this video. I chose the very same build you showed here on day 1 and have been using it ever since. I don't really like the gems as their effect feels a little underwhelming compared to the other choices. I love the kanai's cube talent at 7 as it can mess up burst abilities and heroes while also applying a hefty slow. Stay a while and listen is also a great ult for most situations (and the lv.20 upgrade is busted). Favourite support and a great pain to deal with as his survivability next to an ally goes through the roof

When chasing on foot, can be useful to cast W first to slow their path so you can get your E far enough out that they cant clear it, if they are forced to retreat one direction, say to their base.

Super Healing Potion and Bottomlas Flask works well too. People seem to be learned to play with Deckard Cain, they usually wait Super Healing Potion if they can. Both ults are great.

A build I really like is field study, ruby, cube mastery, lore, blessing/aoe potion, stone curse, perfect gems. The spell power gives a nice boost to potion healing, and can even get more value out of stone curse using cube mastery to get a faster sealing. I love blessings, but I don't even when I announce I've used it in coms allies don't aa to heal themselves. It's still a nice ability, but I still sometimes opt for aoe potions instead since I require less ally co-operation to get value out of that one.
@kadse2994

Most Cain players i saw in game choose the level 13 talent Super Healing Potion instead of Ancient Blessing which in my opinion a very powerful talent which gives you extra AOE damage and healing for each AA in teamfights

I've have best results with Lorenado than with Stay Awhile and Listen. I believe that in my case, Lorenado enables a more aggressive Deckard Cain playstyle (DC it's the most difficult support to get takedowns with, but it can happen). The Stay Awhile and Listen channeling makes me feel like a sitting duck, and it requires a very coordinated team to make good use of the effect.

The complaint about people not picking up potions is partly true. While I do try to throw them directly at them, it happens that you miss your ally. Especially when you got something like a Tracer or a Genji. Everyone that played Ana knows of this problem. A lot of people tend to not stay still when the enemy doesn't even have a skillshot, but your support does. So when you miss the potion and it's just a pixel away from your ally and they don't take it, they really are to blame. I had games where a low health ally was escaping and on his escape route there were 2 great potions. He didn't pick them up and later on blamed me for not healing him. Same thing happens with the lower potions from the red gem. A lot of people simply walk in a different direction of the potions and later on complain that they don't get any heal. I mean, those potions aren't invisible right? It can't be so hard to get them when you are under no cc. BTW, am I the only one around here that is not fond of going for "builds" but mostly chosing talents depending on the situation? Even if the chosen talents don't synergize very well, I tend to pick different talents whenever I think they are more benefical than any "build". Like why would I take increased damage on my E when I need to stick close to my team to survive and have a far greater profit from additional armour and cdr. This is just an example, but it feels like people are way too fixated on specific builds than on situational talents.
@djS0nics
@djS0nics 6 жыл бұрын
TheIllio I also try and pick situational but I take synergies into consideration. Let's say if I have a talent that boosts my W (on any hero, not specifically Deckard) and on the next talent tier I have the choice to build a synergy with my W and a talent that counters the enemy frontliner, I will think about how beneficial the synergy is and how dangerous the frontliner is. Also when choosing a talent I think about the other talents I 'give up'. On some tiers there are talents considered too valuable not to pick them. For some heroes that leaves more or less 1-2 builds.
@Sylfa
@Sylfa 6 жыл бұрын
The benefit of builds is that you can pick the next talent midfight, no need to think just muscle memory. The downsides of builds is that you might accidentally pick up Auxiliary Shields on Fenix when up against a Varian. You kinda have to consider where you might want to deviate from the build you have in mind and delay the key talents so you can consider it.

When people complain about people not picking up potions it's when you miss a shot on somebody that needs a heal or when everybody needs heals after a fight everybody will run after your fresh pots like ducks to bread and ignore the several that are already out (even more annoying if you have the greater potion talent). It's mostly due to people not taking 5 secs to consider the situation and just going through the motions of the game.
@zitfrit

you really should try, shield potion + aoe potion + bottomless potion. insane healing. practically inmortal if you stay in place with pots.

it is also easier to heal if you cant hit allies with pot, you take it near them and they also get heal+shield.

Well, looks like my Deckard is good. I don't do any of those mistakes. Hahaha. He is indeed very fun to use and has an absurd amount of utility. One thing that grinds my gears is when people ignore Potions altogether, even though they're right by their foot. Are people so lazy that they can't even walk towards the shining red heals? I do pratice throwing Potions exactly at their faces so they get insta-healed, but still, it is very frustrating. On the other hand, I like to use potions as breadcumbs for people that don't follow properly. For instance, if I want to clear a camp, I usually leave a trail of potions towards it so players may follow. It sounds stupid, but it really works. The build I like using is this one: www.icy-veins.com/heroes/talent-calculator/deckard-cain#32.3!2321214 Ruby for me is one of the strongest talents in the game, wether you have a lot of frontline Heroes or not. Being able to spawn 3 Potions per Hero hit is absurd. I lost count how many times this talent saved my ass (prime example of me here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHTCdYGvptuMiZI). At level 20 with Perfect Gems you can spawn potions every 7 seconds or so, since it also lowers the CD of Horadric Cube, which combined with his trait makes it really handy. It's absurd. It's not unusual for me to have over 20 potions spawned with Perfect Ruby spams.

A little late on the comment train, but a bit of perspective on this from the DPS side: Deckard Potions may suffer from Final Fantasy Elixir problems. I know there have certainly been times where I've been sitting at 70% health and said, "I'm fine right now, I'm going to leave that potion there in case someone else needs it to get out." If I'm being perfectly honest, there's probably been at least a few times where I've said just that and gotten burst the fuck down to 5% from 75% and been wishing I had taken that potion before I got deleted by their Chromie (or insert other bursty DPS here).
