Notre-Dame de Paris - Full Tour & Towers - February 2019

This video from Notre-Dame de Paris was filmed just weeks before parts of the building were destroyed by a fire on April 15th 2019. President Emmanuel Macron said that the cathedral would be restored, however it has been estimated that restoration could take up to twenty years or more.
In this video I visit the towers of Notre-Dame and share the fantastic views across the wonderful city of Paris. Along with that I share information about the building along with walking through the cathedral itself.

Loved this tour. I went to the Cathedral back in the 1980's but didn't climb up to the top due to my disability. I did attend Mass which gave me goosebumps! A lot is to be said for your respect & thoughtfulness in your videos. You are one of my favorite KZbinrs! Thanks Shawn!

I would love to have a book of photographs that focus JUST on the Gargoyles and rain spouts. I am glad you showed us a glimpse of a few of the more famous ones. It just breaks my heart about the fire. I mean that is the very building where Joan of Arc began her mission. This place must be restored and maintained....it is not just a church, it is a symbol of hope for the hopeless and those in need. Thank you, so much, for sharing this glorious place with us. It is still a miracle that so much of the building was saved, like the towers and those stained glass windows. You could replace them, but it would not have been the same.

I have often encouraged friends to travel w/people like you! When i visited Paris I was jet-lagged & tired from traveling(8 hr flight from New Orleans) arrived to cold gray drizzle still determinedly went to Arc De Triomphe. Then i was soaked too. Hungry too. But when i hit my french hotel w/down comfort I went out for a whole day of my trip! A whole precious day gone. So u showed great details at The Arch. And i loved watching this from the comfort of home. I never went inside the arch or on the terrace for the views! So u made up for that tenfold. The palace on the hill u pointed out however is another magnificent church! Name is Sacre Coeur Basilica. I went up there and saw the great views of Paris from that hill named Montmartre. But never got inside or to its roof w/really spectacular views. So i am waiting/counting on ur visits to Sacre Coeur, La Louvre. I got in Notre Dame and The Opera both in one morning. Im not religious but still felt inspired & moved whenever I visited Notre Dame, it was so beautiful. Im relieved that the structure of the building has been saved at least. The Montparnasse Tower you mentioned is well worth a visit, great views.

Its beautiful and stunning building! I only saw i once in my live for about 5 minutes. The tallest tower of Nodre dame was nearly 100 meters tall, it looked the most stunning. Sad that it collapse

Do you remember what day you were there? Was it the first Friday? If so, you witnessed not just a mass, but the viewing of relics believed to be from the time of Christ. I’m not a believer, but would still be in awe. (The procession before the service looks typical of a first Friday)

It was (severely) damaged but not destroyed. The ceilings are stone vaults! Like cobblestones that can't burn... This is not the first cathedral to catch fire either. The builders knew the wood sub-roof could burn and these stone ceilings were ingenious. This ceiling got pierced in just 2 spots. The were drone pics of the wood embers laying on these stone ceilings. The newspeople were saying the whole roof is on fire. But I knew better. The stone ceilings were fine for the most part...

Maybe in a video...However it appears very elegant in person. The stone has golden in it's name and Paris looks golden even but there is actual gold highlights on many places...The Cafe awnings add much color. The flower beds are magnificent. Colorful. Remember one of the greatest landscapers ever Le Notre worked his magic here...

The store windows are soo colorful too. Pastries in all colors. Couturier displays of ladies gowns are so colorful! Then the world famed art galleries. Monets, Gaugins, Picassos, Renoirs. All masters of COLOR & LIGHT!
