I was so damn nervous all week going into that game and didn't stop being nervous until an hour after the game was over. There was so much I didn't like about the game yesterday (STOP TRYING TO KICK FIELD GOALS!!!!) but they found a way to get it done. I also absolutely love that the last three times we've gone into USC needing a win to secure high level postseason games, we've won: 2012 to go to the national title game with a series of goal line stands, 2018 to go to the 4 team playoff with a late TD to Tony Jones, and now 2024 to host a CFP game with a pair pick sixes

@@williamjaeger5940 I was upset about Leonard the most, talking to my dad on the walk out of the stadium was hard. I remember saying I have to stand by Marcus Freeman and hope he knows what he is doing. The loss was so hard and humbling after the previous win. The turnaround was above and beyond what I had hoped. We needed to do 3 things to solidify ourselves as a quality and competitive team. With BK, we were (1st) finally playing all 4 qtrs after years of not showing up for the 2nd half or 4th qtr. (2nd) Not meet to the level of the opposing teams, (I was worried we had with the NIU game) but we showed up for every game after. (3rd) Dominate the game by being agressive and have the backups that are quality as well (FINALLY!). I am so proud to see all of these things fulfilled over the last 5 years as so much has changed in the NCAA.

John, I'm 73 yoa and have been an Irish fan since 1962. Before every game for the past 15 years I put up 2 Irish flags and play music from the Irish band before and after games. 6 years ago I sketched out a picture of TD Jesus, the ND logo and in old English letters I had Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and had it tattoo'd on my left shoulder so I am a through and through Irish fan. Other than the 1973 game against Alabama to win the National Championship, this might have been one of the biggest games for the Irish to win. It hasn't been since the Holtz era that the Irish win a game of this magnitude. We have a HC and staff who recruit their asses off and work the portal to their advantage. Finally, I have a Notre Dame team I can believe in John. I love your passion and love for this university, it rivals mine. And we're both Chisox fans.

Grey and the defensive back field can be as "foul" as they please, if you can't break up a pass, just interfere down the field (and frustrate and shut down passing powers) and intercept it in the redzone -- once a play gets into the ND backfield, defending your home allows you to foul freely

You have to remember that it took Penn State overtime to beat Southern Cal. Notre Dame beat them by 14 in regulation. I believe that during the next 3 weeks Christian Gray is going to be coached up by the defensive backs coach. I believe we will see a big improvement in his play in the next game.

After that Northern Illinois loss I was wanted Freeman fired and Leonard benched and had the typical ND fan mentality after a crushing loss. Then the week after they started what is now a 10 game win streak and a home playoff game. I refused to believe but week after week and win after win I started to believe again. I don’t know if they can win a natty this year BUT I think this team has its best shot in a long time. We got to the dance floor now let’s see what happens.
