Saban loves competition, I'm not surprised he's looking in the portal. As a player like we always say if you're scared of competition bye. Also let's not forget 2014, Sims, Bateman, and Cornwell did horrible at A Day. Saban brought in Jake Coker who arguably wasn't much better and he won a title the next season.

As a diehard ND fan it pisses me off so much how those people can’t evaluate talent! Buchner is actually extremely talented but lacked decent receivers to get the ball too. ND has got a solid QB and receiver room now but last year was pretty rough. Losing TB really stings because the guy can ball! You guys won’t like hearing this but Tommy Reese really screwed him up with that dumb ass scan offense! Saban won’t have to kiss Reese ass like Marcus Freeman did so I do believe he’ll let Buckner react quickly. At any rate- best of luck to TB and good luck with your Tide!

Saban came out last yr & said that 2022 was going to be special. One of his best teams….That’s what he said!! That’s not Saban like!! Saban in the past would downplay expectations. And this program has been slipping the last few yrs. I know we played for NC in 2021-2022. I know they went 11-2 last yr, very good yr, but not to the Bama standard at all!! And this yr, looks very shaky?? Possibly 3 or more losses?? It feels like the end of the Bowden era or Bryant era!! Time happens to all of us. I think Bama needs new blood. And I hope for the best but I don’t won’t this program to slip to the level it was post Bryant!! I know recruiting is still great but allot of turnover as well. It is not an indictment on 4 or 15. If an indictment, it is an indictment of BoB re: preparing his kids. Buchner may be insurance because 4 or 15 may have indicated they are leaving and Bama needs insurance. ND vs MARSHALL was awful. ND vs South Carolina was not awful.

Yeah i'm a big time Norte Dame fan I think Tyler Buchner might be a right fit for Bama offense, Tommy Rees was his former Offense Coordinator at Norte Dame, he a very underrated athlete in the mode of Jalen Hurt, the problem with Tyler his inconsistency as a passer if he became consistent Bama got themself a stud at QB that why Norte Dame got Sam Hartman from Wake Forest at QB, Tyler previous bowl game vs South Carolina at the 2023 Gator Bowl he was the best player in that game.

For clarity, was it a workout or a visit? I think there’s a big difference between the two. The title says workout and you mentioned tryout during the pod. I think stopping in for a visit with your former OC to gain some “Bama Buzz” is advantageous for Buchner. A workout would imply there’s probably more interest on Alabama’s end. Buchner may be looking for a place to continue to develop instead of being replaced at ND. He may be like some of the rehab coaches we've had. I think he should be there to push the other two and with our history of QB injuries over the last few years, not a bad move. I don't think he'll be the starter.

Look....Milroe and Tyson, either one, can lead this team. I'm almost appalled that Bama is considering a QB from the portal. What does this say to future players who commit to any team....put in the effort and time to be the best you can be...and the University goes after another player at your position...how can these athletes pour their heart and soul into any program knowing they could be replaced at the drop off a dime. I think it's a bad call. I trust coach, but I think it may set a bad precedent for the future.

I know y'all don't like this move. I don't either. But I also don't like losing games. People are going to lose their minds if Milroe or Ty don't pan out and it ruins the season. They're going to go insane if we're playing a true freshman once the season is ruined and/or we have a honk if you sacked brodie debacle. The reality is that if Saban thinks the team needs more options at QB that aren't true freshman, then we may be in trouble. And I'd rather take a chance on a transfer than to just suffer the consequences. I love the way Milroe represents the university but I'm worried he's the opposite of "clutch". Simpson doesn't have much of a deep pass game and is injury prone. We could be in real trouble this season. Sorry guys. That's the way the roster turned over on us. But we have to face the possibility that either we don't know some things behind the scenes, and/or Saban thinks the QBs are potentially a major enough liability that he has to gamble on something. Hope it works out. But I'm not exactly thrilled either. Edit: after looking at some film Tyler Buchner likes to run the ball and isn't afraid of contact. If he comes he could easily be the backup to Milroe in the same way Saban recruited TJ Finley. We could run the same plays with both in a way that's easier than what we would ask of Ty Simpson... I'm looking for positive angles from this, please let this season pan out

Be objective. Milroe has a garbage arm and cannot aim or throw consistently. Simpson got injured. Buchner scored 5 touchdowns against South Carolina and won the bowl game. He can run also. Milroe and others threw 4 interceptions in the spring game and had 9 dropped passes because the bad QBs throw uncatchable balls. Yes, bad QBs often throw passes that have low catch ability.

Working out for what? There are two 5 star QBs and one 4 star and and incumbent QB on the team and they're looking at another QB. This speaks to coaching and player development if you can't get your own guys ready. This is why kids transfer because your coaching can't get the best out of the recruits you have

@carlosphillips3 yes, TB is a decent QB and would have been a solid backup. I'm just saying that TB has (repeatedly) shown his ability to throw an accurate ball is marginal. He can complete some passes but you cannot count on him to throw well through an entire game.
