People want to downplay our defense. But think about how we did Caleb Williams last year. Number 1 draft pick, and we made him look terrible.

Luke has a point on the Service academies being conference members now. it will be grudging, but should they figure in any way into the conference championships, even the committee will have to consider the point. Always love hearing you guys talk, great show and thank you! Goo Irish!

“You asked a great question about the ‘Dark Cloud’ over Notre Dame’s program. I have a couple of thoughts on that. First, I believe there are unrealistic expectations tied to historical events that have occurred in previous coaches’ third years. When we constantly compare the current coach to past successes, we lose sight of what’s happening in the present. Second, this ‘Dark Cloud’ lingers because media outlets, like your show, keep rehashing that loss from weeks ago. Why keep looking backward? Notre Dame has won every game since and is on a strong path to a potential playoff berth. Instead of dwelling on the past, how about we stay in the present moment-where the real power is?”

Sneed has terrific physical ability. I'm sure he'll make some big plays for ND. Ausberry seems like a more complete player, though. Ausberry looks to have instincts that I don't think Sneed has. ND needs to get Sneed into specific situations to take advantage of what he has to offer. I think ND can just put Ausberry out there and know that he'll do a good job, regardless of situation.

Hoping maybe they try giving Sneed reps at vyper after the injuries to Botellho and Traore!

@JacobSundey he's too small but I agree he should be sent to get the QB on every obvious passing down.

Losing Traore for year really stings. Hoping maybe they try giving Sneed reps at the vyper. Think it might be a good fit

I’ve had the privilege of watching Notre Dame football for a very long time. I watched them win the championship in 1966 for the first time in my life. The last 30 years or so has been really rough! From what I can see, the only thing, keeping Notre Dame back from being a true contender is the same thing they’ve been suffering through for quite some time. They don’t have a great quarterback. A really good quarterback is all this team needs in my opinion. The team overall is a really good team, but they lack a championship quarterback. I truly believe CJ is going to be a great star. If I had my way, he would already be in there, developing the rest of the year getting ready for the playoffs. Another transfer quarterback, other than to have another back up would be a true travesty. Three transfer portal quarterbacks and three duds as far as I’m concerned. Yet they will keep Riley Leonard in there simply because they paid all that money for him. If Notre Dame makes it to the playoffs at all, once again, they will be shellacked in their first game. To me, it is simple: until you get your quarterback situation straightened out you can forget it

Yeah, I understand all that you posted here BUT.. what's your thoughts on the quarterback position and how it factors in regards to the ND football program competing for national titles again, in this era of cfb? 🤔
@tonyprath91672 ай бұрын
@@IrishNattyby27 I’m certainly no expert, but I think that Marcus Freeman and his coaches have undermined their own process by going to the transfer portal for one year rental quarterbacks, hoping to “win now”. I think they should believe in their recruiting process enough to give it a chance. We lost to an Ohio State team last year with a freshman quarterback. We recruited a top five quarterback in CJ Carr and also have a really good quarterback in Angeli, who I feel, had he played from the beginning of last year, would’ve been a much better quarterback than Sam Hartman. Just watching him in the bowl game let’s you know that. I know hindsight is 2020 but my point is it’s much better to develop the quarterbacks that you’ve had enough confidence in to recruit your butt off for. I think you undermine them and the whole process by going out and getting 1.4 million dollar one year rental that has already shown that they are not a for sure thing. I think we have a good enough team overall that we don’t need another Joe Montana, although it would be great, but I think we already have a really good quarterback in Angeli and a true star in CJ Carr. I think next season we should just leave the transfer portal alone as far as quarterbacks are concerned unless it is just to find a good back up or someone that could compete to start rather than one they anoint as starter before they ever step foot on campus. I believe a good healthy quarterback competition next year will net us the right guy and perhaps we can finally get over the hump. One can always hope my friend.

Let's be honest. ND will get embarrassed in playoffs against any SEC or Big 10 teams. They should have started CJ Carr (fan favorite). Yes, there would have be growing pains, but at least he will have 1 season under his belt and be ready for serious playoff runs in 2025 and 2026.
