This game (like all of our games so far this season) will depend on how the ND defense plays. ND's formula for success so far has been for our defense to shut down the opponent's offense--giving our inconsistent offense all the multiple chance they usually need to finally get it going and put some points on the board--while not having any pressure to have to pay from behind on the scoreboard. The kiss of death might be having USC jump out to an early 7-14 point lead while putting pressure on ND's offense to play from behind.

Yes 5 losses for USC, but only 1 loss at home in the Coliseum, and that was to Penn State by 3 pts in overtime. This game is going to be very tough and very close. ALL the pressure is on us. USC has no pressure, nothing to lose, they can play loose and carefree, run trick plays, fake punts, double reverse sweeps, onside kickoffs, etc. etc. etc. And beating us would be the only thing that would make their miserable season a success, in their eyes. If there is a blowout of any kind, it will be US on the losing end, I'm afraid. I hope the team and CMF are not buying all the hype and are not too over confident. This is going to be a dogfight.
